“Helpful, friendly hotel”

Nice, friendly staff. Most spoke English. Good location. Good breakfasts. A lot of shiny brass railings.

“Good hotel in Buenos Aires.”

Regente Palace: A simple, good, and clean 3* hotel in Buenos Aires. We are a family of three and found the hotel comfortable. It did seem a bit dated, but they are working on that. They are doing renovations at the moment (January/February 2010), so at times in the day it was a bit noisy. One could hear hammering and construction sounds. However, we came to Buenos Aires to explore/shop/dine and not stay in the hotel in the daytime - only to freshen up and drop off shopping bags! At night, it was quiet. Friendly and helpful front desk staff (from what I heard, they spoke Spanish, Portuguese, English). The bathroom was clean. Liked that there was a bathtub and a bidet. The hotel offers a free breakfast in its restaurant. Basic foods like cereal, croissants, fruits, ham, cheese, bread, jams, juices, coffee. It was alright, nothing particularly special but it filled us up until lunchtime. A good choice for breakfast can be found in a number of corner restaurants nearby if you are looking for hot foods - eggs and such, a great espresso or cappuccino - or my husband's favorite "cafe' con crema". The hotel location was excellent for walking to Avenida Florida - the pedestrian only shopping street, about four blocks away or to 9. Julio - a main street. Great restaurants nearby the hotel. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. We would stay there again. Best to know a bit of basic Spanish for getting around in the city. Cheers.

“A good value hotel”

This hotel provided good value and adequate service and was as described. It was also in a great location and position for tourists and travellers. The 'superior' rooms were very comfortable and quiet. My only minor complaint relates to the cost of international phone calls (to Australia), which were excessive compared to the local phone shops in the street.

“Good Value For Money”

I was pretty pleasantly surprised. I had read a few other bad reviews and wondered if I´d regret booking here. But actually it was a nice hotel and at a reasonable price. The airconditioning was awesome in the stuffy BA air. The breakfast in the morning was good. I didnt try roomservice. Free wireless in the lobby was also welcome. We had a room away from the streetfront so it was pretty quiet . The bathroom divided the "lounge" area from the bedroom area. Both areas had large TV´s. My only complaint would probably be that we were there with two kids. There was a foldout sofa bed and two single beds. Hubby and I wouldnt fit on the sofa bed. So the kids used shared the sofa bed and we had the single beds. A queen bed and a sofa bed would have been better. But still, overall we were satisfied.

“Enjoying nice Buenos Aires...”

The hotel, located conveniently close to downdown area and at a walking distance to and from the main points of interest, is very quiet. Just across from the front door, a nice and recommendable parrilla restaurant make your either lunch or dinner experience quite enjoyable. Do no miss it! Not exactly new, the hotel is well maintained and its brass stairways handrails, which are everywhere, are kept shinning. Rooms are quiet, confortable, but not exactly large, and clean. Bathrrom very clena, comfortable, well iluminated and has a great shower. The breakfast, offered in a large buffet at the mezzanino, is very well assorted. One will surely find everything needed to start up and keep up and running for the whole morning, as well. Breakfast team do not bear a smiling face all time, but do a correct and silent job. Given my overall experience, I would rcecommend the hotel.

“Excellent location, bad comfort”

Located on the center of Buenos Aires, it is a very centric hotel, however, it feels old and not well maintained. Noices of next door room are inminent and the bed was very unconfortable.

“BA's most annoying hotel”

There is nothing drastically wrong with Regente Palace Hotel. However our stay was marred by many, many small annoyances that added up to one giant pain in the neck. The lobby looks new, but the hotel is really quite old. The rooms are small, and the fixtures in the bathroom were quite cheap. There was only one outlet in the entire room that could be used to operate, say, a computer, and that was located in the bathroom, of all places. There was only one elevator in operation during our entire five day stay and between eight and ten, when everyone in the ten floor hotel was going to breakfast it often took ten minutes to find a car with room in it. Probably the one single most annoying circumstance was that the key cards for the room door were constantly losing their coding. So you would get to your door, only to find that you had to troop down to the lobby to get your card recoded. If this happened between eight and ten in the morning, it could take you half an hour to get into your room. There was free wi-fi, however it was located in a small alcove off the main lobby, and was not set up so someone could comfortably access their laptop. If you wanted wi-fi in your room, there was a charge. There was also a charge if you didn't check out on time. With few exceptions, the staff was unsmiling and unfriendly. And the waiter in the bar were more interested in talking to their friends on the computer than providing service.

The best thing about the hotel was the front desk staff. The room was reasonably clean, but even as a non smoking room, the towels and the room had a faint smell of cigarette smoke. The walls of the hotel are very thin, so we were able to hear the TV and the conversations of the guests next door, as I am sure they could hear ours. The dining room staff was not service oriented, as we went twice for breakfast during our stay and were not even acknowledged at the dining room reception area. Therefore, we paid for breakfast as part of our stay but had to eat breakfast somewhere else, every day. The location of the hotel is good as we could walk anywhere in the city very easily.
