My experience at the hotel was very positive. The room that I got first did not have a nice view. I upgraded it for a little extra to have the view of the 9 de Julio Avenue and the obelisk. The room was very clean. It did not have a hair dryer. I forgot my electrical converter for my cell phone and the hotel did not have one. It would be nice if they had some that customers could borrow. The breakfast was very good: fresh fruit, jam, cheese, sweet bread, etc. The spa is excellent! The area is not large, but it is well equipped with options to different areas. It was too bad I did not have time to use it. It is open from Mon –Sat, I guess from 9-9. It closes on Sundays. Don’t miss your “baño turco” if you want to clean your face and body. All of the employees I encountered were very courteous. They gave me good information, including the tours. The city tour is great and very affordable. They have to be paid in cash. There are banks close to the hotel. However, it is easier to get cash with a MasterCard than with a Visa card. I asked them for a place to eat a good steak. One man told me “La Churrasquita”. He was right. It is just about two blocks from the hotel. The check out is a little early, 10:00am, but it is a great convenience to keep luggage there until a later time and to be able to use the Internet (I brought my laptop) also. The location is definitely excellent! I will stay there again when I go back to Buenos Aires.

“I would stay at this hotel again”

The staff were friendly and eager to help. If a staff member was unable to help, he or she would find a staff member who would. The hotel does not serve cooked breakfasts. Instead it is a buffet comprising of fruit, cold meats, orange juice, coffee, toast etc. In my view this type of fare was more than adequate, but of course, it is a question of personal preference. This hotel is centrally located on Cerrito Avenue, which runs parallel with Avenida de 9 de Julio. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the major attractions, such as the Teatro Colon, Casa Rosada (Pink Palace) and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Also the main shopping centre on Florida is nearby.

“South America a great place to explore amd holiday with plent to see and do”

Realy enjoyed Peru plenty of history, cluture, food, beer and wine the people are great I personnely never had any problems at any time, I did not go into areas that were realy out of the way either. I never saw or herd of any problems of any of the places I went to. I also enjoyed the short time in La Paz and Buenos Aires and would like to go back and explore more of South America as it has so much to offer. I'm already look at different things to do and different countries in South America.

“Great Downtown Location”

We overlooked the obelisk from our room. Good service. Staff very helpful with tours and could speak english. Disappointed in pool, it is not a big a the picture, and is not a lap pool. Great location, we walked to many very interesing stores, shops and parks. Security was no problem, except for a fast fingered taxi driver, but we were cautious.

“Hotel Republica - Buenos Aires (Obelisco) is good value for money”

The Hotel Republica is perfectly positioned and easily reachable by public transport. The only disappointment was that the spa was not open on Sundays and we were relying on using it after checking out and before leaving for the airport. Overall we were very satisfied.
