Closest hotel to SUNY Fredonia on Move-In WeekendPosted Aug 26, 2014
Selected this hotel because Dunkirk hotels all booked up. The 30 minute travel time and highway tolls to Dunkirk and back over a weekend was a drawback. Not sure what is in the Hamburg area since we spent our time in Dunkirk/Fredonia. Quality Inn was right off the US 90 highway. When we first checked in around 10 p.m., had a non-smoking room but it definitely was in a smoking wing because the smoke smell got stronger as we walked along the hallway. Our room was smelly and had an ash tray - despite the fact there was a non-smoking insignia on the door - and many of the doors in the hallway. We were able to get another room that truly was non-smoking (front desk clerk was understanding and prompt in getting us the new room). Only saw one or two people in the pool (we overlooked the pool). Breakfast room was clean, homey, and food was okay - the egg omelets and sausage was really good; coffee was weak. Glad to have a free Buffalo newspaper on Sunday morning. Had a refrig which was great for those dinner leftovers at midnight. Overall, good value for the $$$.

Nice BedsPosted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: The beds were great and the room was clean.
Cons: New carpeting, more efficient and quieter A/C, and more staff at the breakfast
The hotel was a bit tired looking, but the beds were great - upscale mattresses and linens and lots of pillows. The room was clean and pleasant although the carpet was just okay. The air conditioner was loud and came on and off all night. The complementary breakfast was extensive, but only one person was trying to keep everything stocked - eggs, sausage, coffee, baked goods, items for the waffle maker, etc. And there were so many people, things were constantly running out and the trash cans were overflowing. Of course some guests were taking ridiculous amounts of food items.

Good for one night stopPosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Good staff. Clean room. Convenient location.
Cons: Building looks old. Needs renovation. Room sound isolation is not enough.
Location: Buffalo has a lot of museums and of course - Niagara Falls in 20 mins distance
Good hotel, clean room and no-problem staff. I guess building and room needed some innovation and repair. The only problem in the room - very loud A/C. But this is the common problem for most hotels I used. Complimentary breakfast is OK. Nothing impressive though.. Also there is a restaurant in the hotel which is not bad. And since this is a populated area you can go somewhere else if you want. Swimming pool is closed after 8pm, so we didn't have a chance to attend. Also room's sound isolation could be better - we heard TV from neighbors room. Fortunately they vent to sleep earlier enough ;). So it would be cheaper a little bit I would recommend it for others.

Leftovers in the fridgePosted Jul 27, 2014
This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The bed was too high for a petite person to get into. I had to wedge the footstool between the bed and end table in order for someone under five foot two inches to get into the bed. When i called the front desk six different times to adk for a stool there was no answer although it was listed on the phone as an "emergency" number. the The handrailoin shower was not secured. The banister in the stairwell was loose. Dirty dishes and beer bottles left over in outdoor patio area from party the night before. Dingy dirty common areas. However the previous guests leftovers we discovered in the minifridge were just the icing on the cake for this disappointing visit.

First room we were assigned had sodden rugs from A/C unit. We were promptly moved to another room. Bathroom had mold. Beds were fair. Breakfast was very good. Staff was nice. The physical plant was a disappointment. Not even a room number. The original one had apparently fallen off, and the room number was on the wall with magic marker. Just not a lot of "quality" for a Quality Inn. Since we drove from South Carolina, we stayed in four different hotels, and this was our least favorite--and one of the most expensive.
