“Comfort in Burnaby!”

This was my 3rd time at this location and it was just as good as the last two visits. The rooms are clean and super comfortable and the neighborhood is fantastic. There's so much to offer in food and entertainment in the area and it's very close to downtown Vancouver and highways. I'll be back. Thank you!

“Excellent service”

We will always stay here whenever we're in Vancouver. Everything is perfect, especially their services and breakfast. The only let down is that you will need to carry your own luggages up as there is no elevator. But the Manager, Mari is ever so helpful to help us carry our luggages to our room. So, we do not really mind walking up the staircase :) The best thing is, it's a short walk from a church, great pizza store, drug store and many other eateries.

“excellent”

Very nice hotel with great staff located in a good location. The two girls at the front desk were excellent. The breakfast was very good. I would stay there again.

“Great stay”

Fantastic beds. Great service. Yes, there is no elevator, the hotel is hard to find, and the parking is a short walk, but compared to everything else in the area this was a gold mine.

“What a pleasant stay”

I had originally booked another hotel for our Vancouver trip, but the hotel was more like a shack when I arrived there. We just could not stay there because it was so dirty. So Howard Johnson in Burnaby is the hotel that we found in desperation for an affordable place to stay during our stay in Vancouver. There was no expectation since the originally booked place pretty much shattered any good image that we had about Vancouver. However, when I got to Howard Johnson, I was pleasantly surprised by first their service and the cleanliness of the hotel. The front desk lady (didn't get her name, bummer, but she was an Asian lady) was exceptionally courteous and professional. We had to re-park the car that was temporarily parked on the street in front of the hotel to the desingated hotel parking lot. She told us to bring in our luggage so that we don't have to bring them in from the parking lot. When we came back after parking the car, she had already moved our luggage up to the room on the second floor. When we walked into the room, we were once again pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and organized. Oh, the front desk lady also brought us a welcome fruit basket with a note saying "please enjoy your stay with us!". Our experience at Howard Johnson wiped out the bad experience we had earlier that day with a shack that calls itself a hotel. Thank you, Howard Johnson Burnaby!

“Great Place”

Great place to stay! Very attentive staff. Yes there is a bar on the first floor. Was at the other end. Did not have any issues. It went smooth and flawlessly!

“Nice hotel in suburbs of Vancouver”

Overall nice hotel. Some past reviewers have mentioned that the neighborhood around the hotel is not so good, but it was ok to walk during the day and early evening. Staff was friendly and the free hot breakfast and hi-speed were nice. If you cant afford downtown Vancouver hotel rates, this is the place to go. Travel to north Vancouver is fast as you go down a few streets and take highway 1 and the workman's bridge. Travel to downtown is a tidy 15 minutes if there is no traffic. Its advised to avoid the downtown area during morning and evening rush hours as the streets can get pretty congested. Renting a car is the way to go if you want to see lots of sights around town. Dont even bother with public transportation. Rates are as good as the states.

“Loved It!! Will recommend this hotel to ANYONE and EVERYONE I know!”

The hotel was further away from the airport than I anticipated, however, Vancouver has a great transit system that took us everywhere we needed to go. Katie at the front desk was amazing!! She was so helpful, she knows everything there is to know about Vancouver, I don't know what we would have done without her. The surrounding area of the hotel wasn't downtown but wasn't uptown either, it's a great location to get anywhere and everywhere within a few minutes. I would definetely recommend this hotel to everyone. The rooms were awesome, very modern and updated, extremely comfortable beds, we had control over the air system, free wi-fi, great bathroom! The hotel has a lounge connected to it called Admiral's Lounge. Great people, great food! The thing about Vancouver that is amazing to me is everyone is very nice, very polite, considerate, etc, it was such a stress free adventure, loved it! I would love to go back and if I get the chance to do so I will definetely stay at this hotel again.

“"What a gem!"”

What a great boutique hotel! It was just completely remodeled in January 2010, with brand new furniture, 40" TV in our rooms (yes forty inches!), microwave and refrigerator. The restaurant was decorated in beautiful cherry wood, and the free continental breakfast there was sumptuous. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. The hotel is within 2 blocks of both upscale and fast food restaurants, including a Starbucks next door and a grocery store nearby. It is also very close to the Pacific Coliseum. Taxis or the public bus, which stops right across the street, were readily available to take us into Vancouver. Definitely exceeded expectations!
