“Lovely friendly Hotel”

We loved this Hotel and would go back anytime. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room comfortable and clean. The Pizzeria was packed every night because it was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable and the bar staff even learnt how to make an excellent English pot of tea. Can't thank them enough for a fabulous week, and look forward to going back, maybe in the Autumn.

“Best Location, Best Hotel”

Hi I am San from London, I visited Sardinia oct 2nd 07 for a week with my GF,And stayed in this Fantastic Hotel Setar,We had a Sea View overlooking the pool WOW,The hotel staff were really friendly,Everything was Perfect about this Hotel,The Best thing is the Loaction as just 1 road takes you to atleast 7 beaches on the way to Villasimius, The bus stop right outside the hotel takes you City Center in few minutes,There is Car Hire in the Hotel,Fantastic Bar and Restautrant, Perfect Place for Couple and Families, Thanks you Expedia and Hotel Setar for a fantastic Holiday!

“So nearly excellent”

Room had good air conditioning,large and comfortable bed, excellent shower. Staff friendly. Had to ask for information - it would have been helpful to know when checking in that breakfast on the fourth floor and dinner in the basement.Bus service to Cagliari much better than driving in - very cheap. No restaurant competition within walking distance, so as well that the Kontiki restaurant within the hotel was first class.

i honestly dont know why there are bad reviews of this hotel about?? we are 2 28 year olds who wanted something other than a brits abroad holiday and we found sardina to be beautiful and the hotel to be a perfect and cheap base. truth is how much time do you actually spend in your hotel?? the room was cleaned every morning and the staff are really friendly. There is free aircon in every room and a beautiful big pool. there isnt much near teh hotel for food but the pizzeria in the hotel is beautiful. try it out and just dont expect english 4 star..

“Mediocre”

The hotel appears to have seen better days. Its a large hotel and has recently amalgamated with its neigbouring hotel to provide a vast complex. The staff were friendly but spoke very little english and as our Italian is poca poca we struggled to make ourselves inderstood - except at the bar of course! The hotel pool is vast and very nice, you must wear a bathing cap to swim (bought at the bar/hotel shop). Grounds are OK, again seen better days. Entertainment is provided for children/teenagers and is loud & obnoxious. The hotel is situated out in no mans land so a car is recomended. Although the local bus to Caglieri stops outside and you can also catch a bus to Villasimius- this is always packed. You obtain the tickets for the bus at the local depot in Caglieri,(can't buy them on the bus). You can buy tickets on the ARST bus (blue bus) to Villiasimius. I would not recomend this hotel unless you want to stay in the complex the whole time & love noisy italian teenagers. Instead go to Villasimius, lovely seaside town with lovely restuarents and beach, very friendly!

“wouldn't recommend this hotel”

hotel was very tired looking from the outside, in side was clean. very poor information about local activities and no real restaurants, bars or shops nearby. beach is not really close by as per the description. very disappointed especially as it declares itself a 4* hotel

“Best for car drivers”

If you only want to swim & sunbathe, this place is great. Super pool & sunbeds & good beaches a short drive (or bike ride) away. However, pool is closed just when you really need a cool dip, between 13.00 & 15.00 hrs, and from 19.00 hrs.omwards. And by September there was no entertainment, no shuttle bus as advertised, no coach trips & very little information about events or places to visit, even if you have transport. However, there is a frequent & v cheap bus service outside hotel for self-motivated travellers. (We found Cagliari Tourist Information officers excellent. ) Room, balcony & bathroom good but lighting dim & essential aircon. rather noisy. Our view was of sea, fields & sunset (We counted the ponies in the field daily, as there was always Horse Steak on the Menu!). English spoken by some staff and fluently by Sergio, the irrepressible & efficient manager of the Kontiki Pizza restaurant. Use its lively terrace when available: it's too hot inside. Hotel is popular local Wedding party location. As Londoners, we found Cagliari drivers & general public refreshingly considerate & patient, even when we spoke our halting Italian.

“Not terribly impressed”

The front desk staff weren't terribly helpful. The gym was in refurbishment and yet we were repeatedly told it would be ready to use. We were there for 2 weeks and it was still a complete mess when we left. The corridor lights were sensor lights which is very environmentally friendly but when we left our room at night we had to walk down a pitch black corridor for some time before the lights came on. Overall, everything looked a lot better in the brochure than in actual person.

“Hotel Setar - not recommended”

There was nothing to do!! Hotel was in the middle of nowhere. In the description of the hotel it says there are loads of bars and restaurants in the area. We found 2 of each and they were rarely open. Also there was never a mention of needing a hire car to get to any location where there was some life so we had to rely on the local bus services. Also, the pool looks beautiful on the website pictures but when we arrived we saw the state of it was shocking. Closed, full of green gunk and no attempts to clean or get it open for the public. There were also birds’ nests in the balcony from which the birds constantly chirped meaning we had to keep the doors shut to block out the noise and also to keep them from flying into the room. Very disappointed with the overall holiday as it was supposed to be a nice, relaxing break and it ended up being very stressful and boring.
