“Great Location, Great Value, Bring a Beach Towel”

I was on a business trip and I decided to spend a Saturday in the vicinity of Nice. I booked this hotel through Expedia because the location was good, the hotel appeared to be nice, and it was affordable. I was pleased with my choice. The room was small, but nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable. There was a balcony, but I chose not to use it. I had a parking lot view rather than a seaside view. The petite dejeuner was 10 euros, but I also thought it was a good value -- coffee, orange juice, a baguette, croissant, chocolate croissant, yogurt, and orange joice -- all delivered to my room. The hotel staff was very friendly, but it definitely helps to speak and understand some French in order to communicate. They request that you leave your key at the desk when you go out, which is very liberating because who wants to take their hotel key to the beach? There were a number of cobblestone beaches within a short walk of the hotel, and I went swimming and sunbathed a little. There was also a bike rental vendor, and I rented a slow bike for two hours. It took me about 40 minutes to ride to the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. I also briefly explored the medieval town of Cagnes sur Mer, which was pretty neat. There were a number of nice restaurants and shops up there. In summary, I wanted to visit Nice, but I discovered that the town of Cagnes sur Mer is a very nice destination in itself. I enjoyed my brief stay.

“Poor value”

Hotel in desperate need of modernisation - very drab and stuck in 1970's. Sliding door to balcony and air con both in need of repair. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but others not so much. The immediate vicinity of the hotel wasn't very attractive, but it mainly seems to cater for horse racing fans, as the track is very close. WiFi was available, which was a plus for me, but only in reception lobby. In my opinion, there are simply better places to stay in the area for the money.
