“Great Value but not close to downtown Cairns - Car Needed”

This hotel was a great value, but you definitely need a car to get around as it is not located in the downtown area of Cairns. The people here are extremely friendly and helpful. There is Micky D's and some other take-out establishments within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel if you do not have a car. There is also a grocery store in the same complex (5-10 minute walk). I'm sure there are buses to take you into downtown, however I had a car so I didn't inquire about them.

Area recommendations
The beaches and rain forests around Cairns are amazing. Of course Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef - unbelievable! I unfortunately should have booked another week or two in this area just to see and do everything it has to offer.
Outdoors or beach
I was there between the months of November/December and it's stinger (jelly fish) and crocodile season, which can be a bit unsettling when you are not use to having to watch out for jelly fish and crocodiles. If you do go into the ocean to swim or snorkel, just rent a stinger suit to ease your mind and stay within the designated swim areas that are patroled by life guards. I loved just walking all of the beaches!

“good value for the money”

This motel was a good value in Cairns. It is outside the town, so it is better if you have a rental car
