Nice hotel close to the beachPosted Dec 7, 2013
Excellent location close to beach, lagoon pool downtown, shops and restaurants. Tours pick up from here conveniently. Flea market several blocks away. Very helpful desk staff. You need to provide your own transportation to airport for $22 cab ride. Good value. Quiet. Nice small pool. We recommend.

Pros: Everything except the cost of using Wi-Fi.
Cons: Better fridge and FREE Wi-Fi.
Location: Ideal for Esplanade with its many restaurants. Easy walk into town centre.
Arrived early evening. Had only 3 days to see main sites. The receptionist immediately sorted trips which were all very good. This small hotel was ideally situated for all local amenities and the staff were very helpful and efficient. My room was on the front of the hotel, but the traffic noise was not too bad. Room facilities were very good on the whole. However, the small fridge was old and did not seem to work efficiently. Air con and ceiling fan worked OK. Breakfast good value. One negative was the fact that Wi-Fi had to be paid for and it didn't seem to work very well. On the whole a very enjoyable stay.

Good value.Posted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Really nice swimming pool. Walking distance to everything downtown. Always able to find parking. Courteous/helpful desk staff.
Cons: 24 hour desk service. Install a lift. Free high-speed internet.
Location: Snorkel/dive the Great Barrier Reef. Croc farm tour. Daintree rainforest hikes/tours. Skytram/train tour.
4 nights stay before going onto dive trip. Arrived at 9:00 pm, a half hour before reception closed for the night. This could have been a problem if we were later. Our room had the balcony overlook the business behind the hotel. 1 morning out of the 4 we stayed there, we were woken very early by a garbage truck emptying a bin, but otherwise quite. Nicer views of the courtyard pool are available, but may cost more than our room. Very slow internet that must be purchased. We had read the reviews before booking, so there weren't any surprises. We knew the front desk wasn't open 24 hrs, there was no lift, and there is limited parking onsite, but adequate free parking nearby. Overall, it met our needs. We would stay there again.

Comfortable Bed, Nice PeoplePosted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff, nice firm bed.
Cons: I get the need to turn the power off when you leave the room, but perhaps the a/c systems could be left separate. It was very, very hot without it.
Location: Great location. Quiet, across the street from a park, and walking distance to the Esplanade with all the amenities of Cairns close by.
The staff were kind and friendly. The room itself was very clean and a good size. The amenities were perfectly adequate. Bathroom a little dated but quite functional. The only downside was the temperature. The curtains were open and the a/c was off, leaving the room stifling hot on arrival. Once I put the key into the slot and powered the room, I was able to get it bearable. I had to repeat the routine each time I came back to the room, but leaving the curtains closed made it easier.

Very good location, close to the City.Posted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Pleasant staff.
Cons: Asian tour organisers should be reminded of manners required while staying in a hotel.
Location: Haven't been in Cairns long enough to answer that.
Nothing to do with the staff, but one night we were woken up at 4 AM by a group of departing tourists, hotel guests, Asians (Japanese?). We were woken up by constant banging of the doors and loud conversations, verbal exchanges, with no consideration of other guests. Later in the morning I put my complaint to the staff at the front desk, and received an official apology. I suggested that the hotel management should contact the tour organisers of THAT group and remind them of the manners required while staying in a hotel. We have seen, during the day, those tourists bowing to each other constantly, showing high respect to each other; but what about other guest in the hotel: they do not deserve any respect?
