Excellent location, staff, facilitiesPosted Jul 7, 2014
Location: Great Barrier Reef, Esplanade (walking, picnicking), Lagoon (public swimming area), restaurants, shops

From Donovan's warm greeting, personal escort to the room, to touring advice and making actual bookings (no commission!), we loved every minute. Cairn's famous esplanade and public lagoon/pool are a very short walk away. Il Palazzo's heated pool with lovely deck area was a delightful way to relax and unwind. We greatly appreciated the in-room washer and dryer, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, etc. We did not take advantage of the kitchen facilities, other than the refirgerator. The room was clean and comfortable in every way. We would definitely stay at Il Palazzo again, and we recommend it unreservedly. Regarding tours, you will notice several tour agencies in downtown Cairns that use the international standard letter I to indicate "Information". This is in fact somewhat misleading. These are not government tourist information centres but private businesses that charge a commission for any bookings you might make. I am not at all against private enterprise, but you can, of course, make your own bookings directly. Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef trip was a life highlight.

Convenience - LocationPosted Jul 4, 2014
Location: Read up about Cairns before going and then let the hotel staff guide you and make bookings, etc.
As another has said, 'Location - Location' . Perfect for the air traveller. Walk to esplanade and any number of restaurants, etc for meals. Hotel staff are excellent. Professional help with all touring bookings right there in hotel. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The wonderful weather helped.

Centre of town locationPosted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: In the middle of town, walking distance to shops etc. car rental next door
Cons: Nothing really. It's what it purports to be. Reasonable price, privately owned apartments.
Location: Close to waterfront, casino, restaurants, bars, a supermarket, not far from Cairns Central mall, art galleries, library. The Lido pool is popular.
This boutique hotel is located in town close to the night markets. It was very quiet, our room over looked the pool side, ( the sea side) we could see the back of restaurants on the Esplanade but it wasn't a problem. The pool was lovely, heated, and not used often while we were there. Kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities were good and the hosts lovely.

Great location!Posted May 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
The location of this hotel is so convenient, and the staff is extremely helpful. Easy walk to anywhere we needed to go, and the staff was very helpful with setting up site seeing trips. Other than some dust and a few ants (little ones that are hard to get away from in that climate) the room was clean and comfortable, just not brand new. The laundry and kitchenette in the room was so handy!

Lovely hotel, very close to all tourist attractionPosted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: It was a quaint hotel with a lovely European feel
Cons: There was everything we needed. No I don't think anything could be improved
Location: Close to shops, ferry terminal to Great Barrier Reef and all attractions that Cairns has to offer
My daughter and I had a lovely time staying at the Illpalazzo hotel in Cairns. It was very clean and comfortable and we liked have kitchen and laundry facilities to use. The husband and wife proprietors were very courteous and friendly. They helped us organise a tour to Kuranda on the train. We didn't have to worry about a thing and the pool was lovely, we enjoyed a swim. I'll be recommending this hotel to friends and relatives
