“Great place to spend vacation”

“Nice hotel, reasonable price”

Hotel is located at a very convenient location. Restaurants, casino, pier, bakery, shops, night markets, grocery stores.... are all within walking distance. Hotel rooms are clean and quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our plane arrived early in the morning and we were able to check to our room at 9 a.m. However, buffet breakfast is very expensive, $38 per person for full breakfast and $19 for continental breakfast. However, they have very good coffee.

Area recommendations

Casa De Meze is our favorite restaurant. It's on 2nd floor with tables on balcony. Very good service, price is most reasonable and GREAT food. We (me, my husband, and my two friends) gave it 110% satisfaction. We had go go back the next day. Don't miss their Sticky Date Pudding for dessert. They have the best sticky date pudding. Night market is the place to buy. I found I couldn't find better price elsewhere. A local taffy shop makes taffy daily. You can get a sample or two. I specially like the mint flavor.

“Nice hotel, but an outdated smelly room”

Impressive looking public/pool areas of the hotel, and a short walk from shopping/eating. The hotel staffed tour personal in the lobby that were very helpful booking daily activities. They were great about changing plans when the weather didn't agree with taking a tour. A porter for luggage storage/transport to/from your room was helpful. A shuttle bus to/from the hotel is $15 (for 2 people), while a quicker 10 min taxi is $20. The hotel is far enough away from any of the "backpacker" crowd, but close to the mango trees where the fruit bats dwell. They are harmless, and very noisey...night/day. The back entrance walk is covered with their debris. My only problem was the condition of the room. The over all condition of the room was not correct for a hotel with this rating. First impression is the strong musty smell of the room. They use "throw pillows" on the bed that just stink of moisture. I had to change rooms to get a second that didn't smell as bad. Old looking furniture. The bathroom had old tiles/tub that need to be redone. There is a nice looking cabana style bar at the pool that seemed to always be closed. The breakfast was overpriced for what they had. We found a great little "pot pie" cafe a good walk away on another road. They had 30-40 different choices for under $5 AUD...and all were tasty and filling.

“Great stay in Cairnes”

Cheerful, helpful staff. Great pool with swim-up bar and sandy "beach" at one end. Lush grounds. Short walk from boat terminal and night market.

“Very Enjoyable”

“4 Star Hotel if not 5”

Very responsive to requests. Main tower has amazing views of Cairns, the hotel pool, as well as the mountains in the distance. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. A must stay in Northern AU.

“Completely Satisfied!!!!!”

The hotel is very clean and well maintained. But the rooms are are not maintained very well. We stayed there for four days and if you are a perfectionist when it comes to being clean, i guess you need to be more specific with the housekeeping. My Overall rating would be a 4 on 5.

Traveler's tip

If you are an indian, and very particular about indian food, you must go to "Tandoori Palace "...out of the 4 indian restaurants we tried , this was one of the best. If you are very particular about spicy food, please do not hesitate to tell the host about it. Its Finger Licking Good.
