“It's an OK hotel for the price”
It's OK hotel for the price but they do charge extra for young children. The other two Rideges will located closer to the reef fleet terminal where you need to board for great barrier reef. From this hotel, it is 20 minutes sceneary walk to get to reef fleet terminal. The internet is not free but they do have a business center that you could get 20 min online for $2. They do have a very nice pool. At night it's very pretty and in the daytime it's wonderful for children to play in as well as adults.
“Good for the price, not great...”
Helpful, pleasant staff. Clean though a bit dated; i.e., the hotel could use and internal face lift. The rooms were the same; mattresses and decor could use updating, but perfectly clean and usable. At the far end of the Esplanade, but the walk to main areas not bad. Not bad for the price. I think we would stay there again.

W e were very comfortable here. It was a little walk to the main shops and restaurants, but it was across from a nice park and the walk was pleasant. Cairns is great and you can get anything you need in the area.

“A Good Hotel for the Money...”
The hotel was nice and clean...though if you were not up to walking a leisurely 10-15 minutes on the Esplanade to the center of Cairns, you might want to choose another hotel closer to the action as the resort only operated a shuttle at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Other than that, if you want to play tennis at the courts, bring your own tennis racquet as unlike other hotels we've stayed at, this resort actually were going to charge us for their use.

Rydges is well lcoated right by the boardwalk/shore, and the hotel is pretty new and the rooms were clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again.
