It was am ok hotel. They have a nice breakfast and about a 15 min walk to the center of town. The hotel is a bit old and run down, however, the rooms were clean.

Convenient

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Location and restaurant for evening meals
Cons: Towells
Location: A nice walk along the seafront park to the city centre
The restaurant is excellent - the Buffet looked most comprehensive, however we prefer to order from the menu - the food is tasty, well prepared and nicely presented, and the service very good. Also good value. The bar also offers light meals

Some surprises ....

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Move or remove "smoking area" away from the swimming pool.
Location: Not as close to town as we had hoped. Not located on the Esplanade as suggested by the hotel name.
Unfortunately the "smokers area" is located beside the swimming pool which was a real "downer". It also seem misleading to refer to the hotel, "Rydges Esplanade", the name implies it is on the Esplanade, it is not. Rydges have another hotel, called "Tradewinds" that appears to be on the Esplanade and in the heart of town.

Amazing view. Had a great time

Had a wonderful holiday. Staff were very helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Buffet dinner was a little pricey especially for a child. But food was amazing.

Spacious two bedroom apartment in a great location

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Cons: Main pool deck needs some attention, lots of cracks and broken timbers.
This two bedroom apartment was huge, comfortable and clean. Perfect for our family of four. Nice location ten minutes stroll to city centre but far enough to feel away from the busy end of town.

Close to the sea front

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: Very helpful and pleasant staff both at reception and in the Resturant
Cons: Power point near the table, as I was downloading my photos onto my laptop and adding captions to each picture.
Location: Did not really notice what was nearby apart from a small shop and ATM round the corner from the hotel as I as getting picked up and dropped off.
I found this hotel to be excellent, Nice big room, settee and table and chairs, although did not spend much time in the room. Having travelled to Australia for a touring holiday that I had planned myself and had planned trips for everyday, staying in Cairns was my 3rd stop on my tour, having just arrived in Australia I got an email to say that the trip that I had booked to the Great Barrier Reef had been cancelled, with no slack in my timetable to rebook a similar trip, I thought I would have to just turn up on the day and try and get on a boat, but on arriving at the hotel I found out that there was a desk where you could book trips, although nobody was there when I checked in as it late, they started a 0630 so got up a bit earlier as I was booked onto another day trip at 0700 to speak to them, I think he was called Fred, took my details of what I was looking for and made suggestions and although he needed to contact the tour operator by phone who were not there that early, he said leave it with me and he would sort it all out while I was on my trip and posted the paperwork under my room door.

Excellent facility

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent facility. Dining room overpriced for the food , however. Great little breakfast spot across the street in a park/playground. Easy walk downtown for lots of restaurants
