“Amazing Place, Exceptional Staff”
Better than we expected.
“Very nice hotel!”
This was a great place to stay! The staff was helpful for the most part. It was nice, clean and in a great location. My favorite part was the bed! SUPER comfortable and super nice linens! After several days of traveling, this hotel was a relief! The only downfall was that the "extras" (i.e. internet) was extremely expensive.
“nice hotel, great location, great staff, not true 5 star condition”
Hotel restaurant is nice, half-open air on the waterfront
“Highly recommended”
I stayed in the Verizon club floor. Beautiful room, beautiful view, perfect location. This floor provides free breakfast and dinner snacks including all-you-can-drink wine and beer. The staff are very friendly. Everything is just perfect. The only downside is that the internet connection in the room is not good.
“Excellent Hotel if you booked the verizon rooms”
We booked bayview room first. The room is small and it looks cheap. Then we switched to the verizon room. It's much better. We are very happy with that.
“Living the Life In Cairnes!”
Great service and friendly staff. Located near to everything we wanted to do and the staff was more than able to help make arrangements for tours and events.
“nice choice”
a great hotel in a fantastic location, everything handy and convenient, the terminal is in front to take the tours to the reef and the main city area is just one block away. Ideal one for me.
“Certainly a 5-star hotel”
We were only in Cairns for 3 days, but we were glad we stayed at the Shangri-La. It was very clean, the lobby looked incredible. Lots of amenities on site, with a cluster of upscale restaurants and stores as part of the hotel complex. One of the best aspects was the proximity to the marina, where the water tours departed from. It was great rolling out of bed and walking a few minutes onto the boats. The view from our bay-view room was spectacular, with some great sunsets to be seen. Would definitely stay again in future visits.
“Very comfortable and great location!”
I really have nothing to bad to say about this hotel. It is beautifully decorated and maintained very well by a pleasant staff. The room was very comfortable and provided a gorgeous view of the Marina. It is a tad pricey, but in my opinion, worth the money.
“would stay again”
Staff was very helpful. Room had a great view. They permitted us an extend stay at the same discounted Expedia rate. Two little problems: the usual quiet was lost the last night due to party in conference center with LOUD, techno music that reverberated until past midnight. Also, we booked white water rafting in the rainforest, horseback riding on the ridge, scuba diving on the reef through the hotel concierge. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. We wanted to go to the outback on our last full day. He recommended a 4 wheel drive adventure. We looked at the brochure and said that it doesn't look like outback and he said the second half was. We booked. It was 15 hours of tedium in a 4 wheel drive VAN. No adventure, butt numbing, mind numbing and we were trapped. After delays due to a broken ferry and "road work" on the dirt road, we were so late that the driver just drove us through the outback/savana @ 60 mph as it got dark. He did not allow us to stop at the historical pub for dinner, tried to tell us it was for our own good. The concierge should have known that a 14 year old (yes, she was sitting right there with me) that had enjoyed the ACTIVE excursions we had already taken would NOT enjoy sitting for 13 to 15 hours. Plus we never really got to see the outback, and it was the MOST expensive excursion we booked.
