“Shangri la is the perfect place to stay in Cairns”

We just returned from a holiday to Australia we found the Shangrila to be the best hotel we stayed in throughout our trip. The location was absolutely fantastic, with gorgeous views of the ocean and all the cafes and shops were walking distance. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the travel desk was great with making last minute bookings on great barrier reef cruises. Plus, we got an excellent rate on expedia, so all in all, it was a great stay. We highly reccomend it as the place to stay in Cairns.

“Best location in Cairns.”

The hotel is located in a shopping and restaurant complex that overlooks the marina where you get the boats to the islands. I noticed the bus stop was also only 20 -30 metres away. The beautiful outdoor lagoon is next to it and the broadwalk goes right aroung it. Don't think you could get a better location. There was a huge amount of rainfall in Cairns both before and during our stay. On our second day there was a large area of wet carpet in our room as water was seeping through the walls. We were upgraded to a better room and given 2 complimentary breakfasts. Hotel staff were very helpful and would google and print off various things we inquired about. We booked tours through tour desk and had constant support from front desk where you could sign out umbrellas and towels for the day. Underground parking was provided.

“By the beach in Cairns”

Location, location, location! It needs to be said! The Shangri-la has a wonderful location. Right beside the Reef fleet terminal to take you out to the reef and the HUGE public pool. I'm not just recomending it. I'm going back my self!

“Great hotel, location, views”

This hotel was very comfortable and well-run. My 17 year old daughter and I stayed there 4 nights to soak up some sun and see the reef, and the location of the hotel near the Esplanade and the ferry terminals was great. The only problem was that they didn't have newspapers available in the hotel, and I had to go to the adjoining mall to find a newsstand.

“Extremely impressed”

The Hotel and position (right on the Marina) was ideal, away from the main shopping area but still within a short walk.We especially enjoyed the vast selection of Restaurants attached to the Hotel. Our room was definately 5 star quality and the Hotel itself was very impressive with modern facilities and very professional staff. I will be sure to recommend this as a perfect place to stay while in Cairns.

From the moment we arrived till the time we departed the staff of the Shangri La went out of their way to make sure our holiday with them was wonderful. No request was too small or too large, whether we needed to make a tour booking, borrow scissors or ask the chef of the restaurant to provide us with some foil to cook our freshly cooked fish in on the esplanade bbq. Thank you and we will be visiting Cairns and the Shangri La again. Next time we will bring our extended family.

The price was very reasonable for the location and quality of this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. The hotel has the feel of a resort.

This hotel was perfectly situated for everything--dining, gambling, Reef Island tours---shopping, swimming---really EVERYTHING! The breakfast was wonderful, the staff was professional and service oriented. We could not have been more pleased! We would definitely stay at this hotel again --or at another Shangri-La Hotel.

“Truly Shangri-La”

My husband and I booked a 9 day live-aboard vacation out of Cairns and needed a hotel for before and after our dives. The Shangri-La fit the bill perfectly. When we arrived, after traveling for over 26 hours, we were too early to check in. We were informed that the hotel offered an early arrival lounge with internet access, comfy sofas, and showers. It was so nice to be able to get cleaned up and have a place to relax while waiting for our room. We got the recommendation to book the Horizon Club level, and if it fits into your budget, do it! It was well worth it to us. The room's decor was crisp and contemporary and the view of the marina was amazing. Included in the Horizon Club, which is the concierge level, is access to the Horizon Club lounge. There you can have daily breakfast, complimentary soft drinks, coffee, tea, and an evening hors d'oeuvres service with cocktails. There are also complimentary computer stations with internet access and the services of a private concierge. There are several very nice restaurants located on the esplanade on the bottom level of the hotel. We went to several of them and you really can't go wrong there. I also have to rave about the staff. Everyone was so attentive and friendly, from the check-in staff to the concierge to the porters. Quality service is definitely a priority.
