“Barcelo is the bomb”

Ummmmm this was my first time in Egypt. I'd booked it off a recommendation on tripadvisor and was very happy I did. Good view, great room and cheap! Lastly the breakfast buffet is ok for how much it costs. I would have enjoyed it more had I turned up more than 10 minutes to go until it closed but :P Lovely building and polite staff. Clean and cosy rooms.

“Fantastic Hotel, excelent value”

This hotel is like a Four Seasons without the conference facilities. Great restaurants, excellent value. I highly recommend this hotel, very close to pyramids.

“Excellent Hotel with staff who deserve praise from the Management for outstanding service”

Barcelo Cairo Pyramids Hotel was absolutely stunning. Reception staff were very friendly and made our stay most enjoyable by providing a free upgrade to a suite as our Pyramid view room only had twin beds and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Breakfast was lovely and the pool area very nice. Would definitely stay there again if visiting Cairo. I would have liked the bathroom floor, bath etc to have been cleaned better than it was, not sure the floor or bath or walls were washed whilst we were there, but perhaps I am being too fussy. Would not stop me returning as very impressed otherwise. Staff deserve a pat on the back from the Management. We have travelled extensively and found this hotel to be one of the best we have stayed in.

“I would give this hotel 4.5 stars.”

I loved this hotel, because it was like an oasis away from crazy Cairo. I would personally give this hotel 4.5 stars, just from my own recent experience. From the lobby, to the food, to the outdoor bar, and to the pianist girl...who just happens to play piano during evenings in the lobby; I would have to say the whole Expedia package was great and cheap. I did not like Cairo as a city, but I did like the ancient Egyptian ruins and monuments....oh yes, and I liked the Barcelo Hotel as well.

“Good Value”

We had a Pyramid View room on the second top floor - so we had no street noise. You could just see an outline of the pyramids (sometimes) as the smog in Cairo is so thick it is difficult to see anything. We were at the Hotel for two nights and ate in the Horus Restaurant both nights, and the buffet breakfast was included with our room. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety and the Horus Restaurant food was quite nice, though not outstanding. We asked about pyramid tours as we had not pre-booked with a tour company and we were directed to the Hotel Taxi Manager. We really don't know if this worked out dearer than using a Tour company, but it did seem to cost us quite a bit with all the sideline shopping and buggy rides. The Taxi Driver took us to the train station to buy our sleeper train tickets, which was great as he was able to book the tickets with us without any hassles. Our train to Aswan wasn't leaving until 8.30pm on our checkout day, so the Hotel let us store our luggage and spend the day by their pool, which was lovely. We had smoked salmon paninis at the pool which were really nice. On the whole I thought the Hotel was very nice, clean and comfortable and worth the 4 stars. As one other reviewer commented we didn't see the Italian Restaurant open at all. I would have liked them to have some tourist information. I think it would be better if they liased with a tour company for those guests who hope to join a tour group on their arrival.

“Would go back in a minute”

We stayed seven days at the Barcelo. We don't spend a lot of time in our hotel, but the time we were there was very nice. The staff was exceptionally friendly and receptive. I read a comment about trying to get an adapter, we bring our own, but there is one build in the hair dryer in the bathroom. The rooms were clean and quiet and everything worked fine. I swam every morning in the pool on the 8th floor and we sat out here at night after returning from the magnificent sights of Cairo and beyond. The neighborhood is fine, it's Egypt, the people are friendly and food is fantastic. Try to get checkered cabs and you won't have trouble with fares in taxis. I would go back to Egypt in a minute and stay at the Barcelo three hotels.

“Nice hotel – planning to book again; did not taste food expect vegetable soup”

I've traveled to Egypt to visit my friend. You should read about Egypt before making decision: you can see more donkeys on their streets that anywhere in the World (I think) and some crowded small streets might smell bad. However, country is beautiful and it really depends on how much you learn before you travel there. Learn all tricks first; never accept anything for free (example: souvenir in pyramids area) - there is nothing for free in this World. Someone will charge you soon or later. Always ask for price first - do not accept "pay as much as you want"; even for simple photo with camel - ask price first! Not sure how they make food but it is tasty. I've spent 7 nights in this hotel. The room was nice and clean expect floor - they've forgotten to vacuum (clean) it. If you need them to clean the room make sure that you leave an appropriate sign on the door; same is for linen - sign on the bed. Keep in mind that their cleaning personnel work up to 5PM (main crew). I had to talk to reception regarding the floor (carpet supposed to be vacuum cleaned); their manager heard my compliant. They took immediate action and apologized couple times. As I felt some pain in stomach (water; weather...) they offered to find doctor for me. They were later checking on me so I felt even shy! Personnel: nice and kind Food: tasted only vegetable soup in hotel - it was good Free internet (talk to reception for activation) They've security guards and scanner at entrance (like at airport)

“I'd go back for sure”

To go on my excursion was a hassle, I didn't understand how to call the number to check my departuire time and location super-dee duper pain. But, the girls at the front desk called and I took the RIDICULOUS dollar cab to the hotel of departure and had a great time. (This dollar cab does not completely stop for you to get in and out andddddddd the door never closes! Yea) Cairo is crazy, things never close, crossing the street is for true adrenaline junkies, good times!
