    “Perfect short stay base”

Ramses Hilton is located in Central Downtown Cairo. very close to Egypt Museum, adjacent to Tahrir Square metro station and only a short drive from many of Cairos tourist sights. To visit the pyramids we asked the Concierge to arrange a tour, which he did and it was excellent.

    “Not Impressed”

Location overseeing the Nile is good. Across from the museum. Alot of auto traffic next to the hotel, take care trying to cross the street. For me the Hotel Concierge was useless, no experience for a city filled with history. The hotel should invest in english classes for their front desk employees. For a little more money find you a better hotel.

“I would use this hotel again.”

The hotel staff are friendly and polite, but of course you will need to pay tips. The hotel location is walking distanceto Tahrir Square and the famous Egyptian Museum but you need to be careful while crossing the heavy traffic.

    “Terrific staff”

The breakfast buffet was outstanding, as was the entire staff at the hotel. We had an 18th floor view towards Tahrir Square and the Nile and spent a lot of time just looking out at the amazing views. Highly recommended: Abou Tarek restaurant for koushary. All the cab drivers know what it is and it's not too far away in case you want to walk it. If you buy a USB modem from the vendors across the street from the hotel's main entrance, make sure to obtain the prepaid time cards yourself. We had a shady character who did it for us at the store but we did not get credited time allotment. Once you're set up with the modem, use the scratch-off prepaid cards yourself.

    “Good Time”

Hotel was friendly and very clean. Security at both entrances of the hotel along with a metal gate insured optimal security. Enjoyed my stay as I had a great view of the nile river. If any thing negative it would be how loud the traffic is that you can hear from your hotel room.

    “Ramses Hilton Cairo”

Good hotel which has seen a face lift recently. The bathrooms are the only part of the room which seem dated minus the counter top which is new. The hotel is centrally located in Cairo, and walking distance to the Cairo Museum for which there is a under pass close by. Also the Hilton Cairo mall across from the hotel owned by Hilton is a nice feature with some food options along aside a McDonalds. There are also a many shops located inside the mall, but seemed to be over priced. Security is no concern with both entrances well guarded. The hotel seemed to be running at near full accommodation with a lot of Japanese tourists, and Middle East tourists. The free breakfast provided is of good standards with a variety of hot, and cold items including a Japanese selection. There is free Internet in the hotel if staying on the executive floor with an inclusive lounge for free drinks, and snacks.

    When to go
December is a good time to go as the weather is cool.
    Getting there
Cairo is easy to fly to, and most convient by taking either Delta, or Egypt Air as they both offer a nonstop flight from JFK which is around 11hrs going, and 12.50hrs for the return.
    What to pack
If going in December pack warm clothes, and a pair of shorts. Also take a jacket as in the mornings you will needed it. Be sure to pack shoes as sight seeing in sandals don't mix well on the feet.
    Dining
As to Lonely Planet the food is very cheaper. So eat the local food which is not hard to get from leaving the hotel. One can actually walk to a few places, and for the dining in places one can take a cab for 10 Egyptian pounds each way.

“Very nice hotel would go back”

I always read the reviews from others before booking my hotels and it is such a big help. The Hilton is a very nice hotel. Everthing you need is inside the hotel or close by. They went out of thier way to make everything perfect. THey have a nice pool overlooking the nile, internet and about 4 places to eat inside the hotel. The only negative but not the hotels fault but traffic noise outside the hotel till about 2 am HORNS HONKING NON STOP it drives your crazy but nothing a radio didn't cover up (and we were on the 20th floor ).So try to get a nile view it will be more peaceful I think We booked a king suite and it was huge, more then enough room. Also we brought a water purifier with us which you can buy at any outdoor store. After seeing where the water comes from I would recommend

The Museum is right across the street and is within walking distance but be careful (eygptian drivers are the worst) But dont bring your camera to it even though you keep it in your pocket thats not good enough the will make you check it in till you leave.
    Getting around
Taxis are cheap but we hired a privite tour (Viator) and did the pyrimds he helped us with everywhere they picked us up at the airport and hotels plus met us eachday before our tour to introduce our guides very nice
    Must see
(Eygptian Museum)The Museum is right across the street and is within walking distance but be careful (eygptian drivers are the worst) But dont bring your camera to it even though you keep it in your pocket thats not good enough the will make you check it in till you leave. The mummy room is an extra 100 pounds but didnt seem worth it if you have already seen mummy the only difference is thes are the royal mummys
    Shopping
There is a mall right across the street which is owned by hilton and has a whole bunch of stores from fake watches to sandels, purses , food 6 levels worth of stores. There is also a mall and movies by the starbucks which are in engish with aribic subtitles. nicer than america movies and cheaper only 4 euros for the ticket and 3 euros for popcorn and a drink
