“Had a fantastic time!”

The staff was friendly, not so much the front desk but the room service guy, the restaurant staff and the security ware very nice. THe food was delicious. They had a great buffet at night and for breakfast. I also ate at the a la carte area (nice). The pool was ridiculously huge , never seen one quite so large. Overall very pleased!!

“College Students: take notice!”

My friend and I were studying abroad and decided to take a trip to Egypt for fall break. We chose this hotel, and it was such a great decision. While the rest of our friends were staying in hostels in other countries, we were relaxing by a beautiful pool and enjoying the comforts of our own room and shower... for about the same price. Don't bother looking for cheaper just to save a few bucks. Stick with this one and you'll get a good hotel for little money and even less to complain about. Also, I read a lot of reviews mentioning mosquitos, but we didn't have a problem at all. I think that was due to our travel being in October, which is a great time to go.

“Very impressive”

Although this is a 5 star hotel, in Cairo, I wasn't expecting much at all. To my surprise, I was impressed by the hotel's service, the staff's friendliness (which is typical of Egyptians), the hotel cleanliness, the decent quality of rooms and more importantly, the good quality food. I would recommend this to anyone. It seems a wee way out but it's close to Pyramids of Giza and is more than adequate for anyone's stay.

“Don't believe the reviews! This place is great!”

I had read the previous reviews and decided to see for myself. What mosquitoes? What poor service? We had a wonderful time! Not once were we bothered by mosquitoes. And the hotel, grounds, and the room specifically were better than I had hoped. The breakfast was more than good! It was wonderful as well. It was so close to the pyramids than I could spit on them from my room. The hotel arranged a guide and car for us and we couldn't be happier with Rabea. He was fluent in English, had a wonderful sense of humor and knew all the tricks and tips. I will definitely go back, will stay at Caataract again, and ask for Rabea again. This will guarantee we will have a good time....again!

“Cataract Hotel - Cairo”

This hotel was sooo nice, is a five stars for a good price of 3 stars. The employees are very friendly, the rooms are clean and beautiful.

“Love the swimming pool”

If you are interested in visiting the Pyramids, being away from the city center, and enjoy some relaxing time by the pool, then this hotel will be a good spot for you. However, do not go by the star rating. Although the hotel is rated 5 stars, it should be in the 3 stars range. You will find that the rooms are modest "but clean", the service is good but not excellent, the spa needs a face-left, the business center has limited hours (12:00 noon - 8:00 p.m. local Cairo time) with no printers (at least when I was there), but the pool is this hotel's best asset and well worth spending the day enjoying the sun and beautiful grounds.

“Nice place to stay”

The hotel was a very nice place to stay. The lobby and other facilities were very nice. My room itself left a little bit to be desired, but considering the overall location it was nice. The staff was friendly and accomodating, it was too cold to swim but the pool looked very nice.

“A Good Base Camp”

It is not a five star hotel, but, the price reflects that. The pool area and pool staff are very good. Food is very plain, and choice is limited, but definately edible. The rooms need a bit of a refurb, but are cleaned and restocked every day. Taxi prices from the hotel are inflated but still way cheaper than you pay here. Main tip. Buy a mossy net 30.00GBP. They are silent assassins and will get you in the night no matter what spray, lotions, burning candles or electronic devices you take. If you are looking for a hotel that is a good base for your holiday. and a lazy day or two next to nice pool is part of that. Then it is good place to stay. Don't expect too much from the bedrooms, they need to be treated as rooms in which to sleep, change and shower. You will need to arrange transport to get to anywhere, as the hotel is a bit isolated. However that is as much a benefit as a hinderance.
