Clean hotel and friendly, helpful staff.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, and helpful staff.
Cons: The food is not the gratest. The buffet breakfast needed more variety, and more quality for a 5 star hotel.
Location: Within the Airport Complex, but it took 15 minutes to get to the airport. Not close to the city or anything else.
Concorde El Salam Hotel is the closest to a 5 star hotel I have stayed in Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt. The hotel and the room were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The Executive Lounge was woth the extra $20 I paid. It included buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, free alcoholic beverages during Happy Hour, and free soft drinks throughout the day. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was not the greatest (unbecoming of a 5 star hotel), but sufficient. I would recommend Concorde El Salam to anyone traveling to Cairo.

Old fashioned luxury

This is a luxury Victorian / Edwardian style hotel in a secure walled compound to the north of the city and close to Cairo Airport. The free airport pickup (from the jetway gate) and take-back service was great as this was for us just an overnight stay. The hotel is very sumptuous with really luxurious public areas and gardens. Had dinner in the Italian restaurant and breakfast in the garden cafe. Lots of choices for eating. Food is perhaps not the main reason for a trip to Egypt but this was good. Check in was via a special sit-down-at-my-desk service and there was a welcome drink. Security was very extensive and very thorough by hotel standards. We chose the cheapest "VIP" room and it was perfectly good

My home from home in Cairo

Pros: The staff. Couldn't be more efficient and perfectly friendly, yet not overly familiar. Well trained, discrete and polite. Five star service overall.
Cons: No criticisms.
Location: Only 15 minutes from the airport with a free shuttle in both directions, peaceful and well located for access to anywhere in Cairo.
If you are stopping over in Cairo, going there on business or wanting to take advantage of the City in any other way, the Concorde el Salam has to be your hotel of choice. Only 10 mins from the airport now the roads are so much better, you can access any part of Cairo without needing to stay in the hectic downtown area. Built 33 years ago in the colonial style this hotel has class. Marble floors throughout, a lovely pool, stylish and elegant food in the choice of restaurants, comfortable and modern rooms and an executive floor with a happy hour and afternoon tea - who could wish for more! Well, more is to come. A free airport pick up and departure service, a welcome drink at check-in on arrival, staff who speak good English and can't do enough to please you, a piano bar with live music every evening, this hotel is my favourite and has been for over twenty years.
