“Stay some where else”
On one web site I saw a review that said the hotel was close to the Egyptian Museum, it is not, it is on the other side of the Nile river. Aslo make your travel arrangments with a travel site not the hotel as they charge a nice commision. Other than that the hoel was as I expected, clean, wireless in room, breakfast was "OK" nothing special.
“Low price, adequate to my needs.”
You cant beat Dokki for the price. The rooms are by no means luxury, but if you're paying $25 a night for a hotel in the middle of Cairo, you arent shopping for luxury. The TV is essentially useless and the beds are small, but the place is clean, safe, and if you tip your cleaning ladies -like you should-, theyll take extra special care of you, even leaving little towel sculptures for you as a thank you. Its not the Ritz, but it is absolutely adequate. Do not book cabs or tours with the front desk. There is a tour place just outside and to the left of the place called Rosetta. Go there and ask for Emad, he is the extremely friendly brother of the two who own the shop. They arent cheap, but they wont rip you off or sneak in hidden charges either, the guides are friendly and helpful, and the advice is good. Honesty is a rare commodity in a city like Cairo. If you want to eat, go left out of the building to the road next to the gas station, go left down that road and you will find a market with good prices and a nice, clean restaurant called Tikka. Neither of these establishments will try to rip you off or pressure sell you. Cairo can be a fun place. Just do your homework beforehand, and dont let your cab drivers pressure you into leaving them a huge tip. Give them what you think is fair and be done. Oh, and always ride with your bags, do not put them in the trunk. This is true of travel anywhere.
“Good and Cheap”
This hotels is central-ish, with helpful staff and basic rooms. Its not going to be the hilton but its a good cheap option.
“Average Stay”
Nothing special about this place, the cleaning is only okay. If you just need a place to stay than this is okay, if you are use to any comforts than I would look elsewhere.
“take a map”
if you do not speak arabic remember to print out a map of the exact location of the hotel, most taxis do not know where Tahrir street is and mix it up with Tahrir square. The hotel is rated as 3 star i believe 2 is closer to the mark. The rooms are generally clean but the decor is tired and the fittings are in need of replacement. first time visitors to Cairo might find the traffic and noise a little daunting, but persevere, the people are friendly and the historical sites will more than make up for any discomfort. take white cabs in preference to the black and white ( which although cheaper are definitely not for the faint hearted - forget air conditioning be grateful for decent tyres and brakes). carry your smaller notes 5,10, 20 separate from the 50 and 100 so when you pay for anything they do not believe you are very rich. leave a tip for everyone that serves you the average pay in cairo for waiters and the like is 300 egyptian pounds a month (a macdonalds meal is 15-20 pounds). Jewellery especially gold( 14 & 21 carat) and silver are a ladies delight and good value , but prepare to haggle. Relax and enjoy, but take sun cream mosquito gel/spray and wear glasses to protect your eyes from the dust.
“Good Cheap Choise in Cairo Center”
a good hotel location and layout, the rooms were better than we thought,,, but the window couldn't be fully shut in one of them, but the weather was warm anyway. the services were good for 3 stars hotel and the location is near major sites (the musuem and the nile). the breakfast was basic and good. the rooms were average and the whole experiance was good.
“Not bad...just don't expect too much...”
My husband and I just got back from a trip to Cairo. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and we felt safe. Of the 5 nights we booked at this hotel, we stayed for only 2 of them -- we took the overnight train to Luxor and back so that was 2 nights away, and the last night we actually checked out at midnight in order to catch our flight home. This hotel was great for us because with all that time away, we never felt like we were wasting money on an unused room. It was simply a place to leave the bulk of our luggage while we travelled around. We were in Cairo during Ramadan, and found ourselves at the larger 4 and 5-star hotels for our lunches. We skipped breakfast each day so I can't comment on the hotel's restaurant. I will say it seemed like the staff was friendlier to us when we first arrived, and they became less and less so as it became evident to them that my husband and I didn't need their assistance with taxis, or tours, or anything else for that matter. All in all we were satisfied with the hotel for what we needed it for, but if you are not a seasoned traveler or you like to be "pampered" this is not the hotel for you.
“Not Impressed”
The hotel is situated on a very busy intersection. The traffic is non-stop all day and all night. The only day the traffic was slow was on Friday when we left. I was not impressed with the cleaniness of the bathroom. The bathtub had not been scrubbed. Our towels were not changed daily. In addition, my aunt and niece had some personal under garments that were missing. Hotel staff was friendly at all times.
“hotel concord dokki downtown cairo”
it is an average hotel, but if you want your room cleaned daily then ask the maid daily
“Comfortable for a while”
The staff are extremely friendly; Room was comfortable; Hot baths available the whole trip; Two problems - 1. AC in Room was a joke, if it wasn't for the noise outside I would have had my windows opened for some night cooling air 2. There was only one English speaking channel and on my final night it would not show, what's a lonely boy to do with no televison but to watch sports in Arabic. Otherwise it was enjoyable.
