Very Nice Cairo HotelPosted Mar 27, 2015
The Safir Hotel is an excellent hotel, especially for the price. It has good facilities, and the rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is very good, with a very nice selection. It offers free internet at a decent speed. It is also located in a very convenient and nice area of Cairo, where coffee shops and restaurants are less then a minute's walk. And to top it off the hotel staff is very friendly and competent. I stay at the Safir every time I am in Cairo, which is around 4 to 5 times a year, and I wouldn't consider another hotel.

Nice hotel with WiFi issuesPosted Mar 22, 2015
This was at least my sixth stay at Safir Cairo and I love this hotel. The food is excellent, rooms are impeccably clean etc however I was disappointed this time by a misunderstanding regarding my WiFi usage. I thought that all WiFi was free but it turned not to be the case and I was made to pay unfairly I think for my usage. All the staff was sympathetic except for the reception manager who wasn't helpful enough. Other than that another great stay.

Good breakfast so-so hotelPosted Jan 20, 2015 on Hotels.com
The hotel, like much in Egypt these days, looks like it has seen better days. It was very expensive for what it is, but I didn't see many choices that were better at the time I booked. The room may be non smoking, but smoking is allowed in the hallways, which means everything smells a little. The breakfast is very good, though, and with lots to choose from. The neighborhood isn't charming or anything, but there is a cafe at the end of the street, a McDonald's and a grocery store a couple of minutes away. Don't book any day trips at the tourist desk, they really overcharge! There is a pool, but it was too cold for me to use it when I went.

Excellent hotel, amazing staff hospitality!Posted Jan 10, 2015
Pros: Great facilities, excellent staff hospitality, great breakfast
Cons: WIFI in lobby
We are an American couple whose first experience in Egypt was landing in Cairo and heading to the Safir Hotel. We were all-around impressed and pleased with the hotel. Upon check-in, we learned they were upgrading us for free to a nicer room, which was spacious, clean, comfortable, and convenient. All of our experiences with the staff were positive - from the concierge to the travel desk, they went above and beyond to be kind and help us arrange what we needed (we don't speak any Arabic). They arranged cab rides to remote locations, arranged our custom sunrise trip to the Giza Pyramids, and even walked us personally to a recommended restaurant near the hotel. We were quite pleasantly surprised by the exceptional kindness of the people we encountered at Safir and in Cairo in general. The location of the hotel is fine - we always felt safe, although it is on the other side of the Nile from most of the attractions, so you'll need to walk or take a cab to most locations - however, cabs are extremely affordable and they all use meters to regulate - I don't think we ever took a cab to a typical tourist location that was more than $5 USD, and oftentimes, it would be $2 or $3. Also, the included breakfast in the morning is great - there is an expansive hot and cold buffet with cheeses, meats, pastries, omelettes, fresh juices, fruits, hummus, and more - delicious! Highly recommend this place - great deal for the price. Lastly, the rooms had very decent WIFI included with each night.
