Pros: Pear jam at breakfast - delicious! Easy drive to D-Day sights.
Cons: Urine odor & animal excrement. Shower stall with no area for soaps, dirty kitchen counter, floor, hair in sink, trash left in cans from previous guest.
Location: Beayeux is a lovely town. Close to D-Day Beaches. Good restaurants, nice shops, outdoor market to experience French culture.
Prior to arrival there were several pleasant, engaging & informative emails from the owner. We were looking forward to and anticipating an enjoyable visit. We were graciously welcomed for our 3 night stay by the owner's son....along with an overwhelming odor of cat urine inside the guest quarters. The scent continued to permeate and seemed to gain strength when the heater was on. Crossing the court yard to the breakfast room required some careful navigation as the brick walkway was dotted with animal feces. The dining table was indeed lovely, set with sterling serving pieces carefully placed. The same young man was there and he had prepared our meal of croissants, cheeses, crepes, fruit, coffee, juice and the best pear jam I have ever tasted. It was all very wonderful until he emerged from the kitchen with a fresh pot of coffee in hand...and a little kitten perched on his back. Very cute, but I have a serious issue with food servers prepping meals while handling animals!! When the owner presented herself, she inquired about our cash payment. This was troubling, as I had a receipt from Expedia stating the hotel had been paid. There was no indication that the room was reserved and held on my credit card and I was expected to pay cash Euro's at time of arrival. When I nicely explained my confusion and asked the owner for clarification, she became verbally abusive, lashing out and yelling at me. A simple explanation was needed but instead I was berated and called names. It was an upsetting and off-putting experience. A needless reaction by the owner. We paid her in cash and will never, ever return.

A Beautiful Home with Wonderful OwnersPosted Oct 15, 2013
This lovely home, with wonderful garden area, is close to the center of Bayeux and all it has to offer. More importantly Myriam and her family keep a clean, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I had a medical issue while staying at this great B&B and the family went above and beyond to help me. My trip to Normandy was memorable because of the wonderful people running the Aggarthi

Just one night spent here. The owners were very hospitable and the room though small was clean and sufficient. there was use of a kitchen too. Very handy for all the sites of Bayeux. We would return

Classic Location and Local GuidancePosted Jul 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Although in a small room in a quirky building, once inside the gates this hotel had a secluded garden close to the centre of old Bayeux with a 200m walk to the Tapestry Museum and an interesting circuit of the old town sites. The staff were very friendly and informative about local sites and restaurants. Breakfast in the garden - included in the price - was brilliant.

My children loved playing with the dog and cat and the place has the feel of being home away from home. We felt like we were the guests of the owner as opposed to just tenants for a night. We would definitely stay there again.

Charming B&B in a great locationPosted Jun 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
I stayed in Aggarthi because it got great reviews on hotels.com and was in an excellent location. Aggarthi has a very "homey" feel to it because the owner and her children stay in close contact with their guests and they have cute cats, dogs and rabbits roaming around in their lovely gardens. I stayed in the garret because it was the least expensive area, but it was still very clean and charming and my Wifi worked fine. The continental breakfast was very nice and I loved the hot chocolate. It was great to have breakfast with people from so many different countries. My only complaint is with the heating and cooling system. Even though it was cold in Bayeux, it was hot in my room on the first night of my stay. However, the problem got fixed and the heating was fine on all the other nights. If I were to stay at Aggarthi in the summer, I wouldn't stay in the garret. BTW, if you have over 6'0", the garret may be too small for you. Since I am 5'4" and am somewhat thin, I had no problem, but tall, big people will want to stay in a larger area.

Incredible place, wonderful owner.Posted May 28, 2013
Location: You might not think there is a load to do round here, but with the Tapestry and the D-day monuments you could easily burn up 4 or 5 days.
Apart from a slight hiccup when arriving and trying to raise them (big red door on the street where you have to ring and old fashioned pull bell to the left of the gate). This place may have ruined me for all other B&b's. The owner Myriam, is one of the loveliest people you could hope to meet, she will do all she can to help you on your visit, including helping you plan any sightseeing you might want to do from a locally informed perspective. Her breakfast spread is amazing, her hospitality second to none. The rooms are charming and immaculate, and I guarantee you will not want to leave. Her pets are a nice touch for animal lovers. If you haven't guessed I can of say enough nice things about her and this place. Don't bother booking elsewhere this is the place to go.

Cozy rustic accommodations in the countrysidePosted Apr 13, 2013
Pros: The hosts, the pets, breakfast, free wi-fi and the location.
Cons: Carrying suitcases up to the third floor.
Location: The Agarthi is located on a quiet street and is within easy walking distance to the rail station and historic sites.
First of all, if you're looking for a place with modern conveniences such as elevators, telephones and high definition TVs, then this is not the place for you. However, if you want a quiet comfortable place with welcoming hosts, then I would highly recommend Agarthi. My wife and I spent three nights in a third floor room. The condition of the room wasn't perfect, but it added to the charm of the place. It was everything that we hoped for and expected in a French country B&B. Myriam, her family and her pets made us feel welcome in their home. Agarthi is within easy walking distance to the rail station, restaurants and historic sites in Bayeux such as the Bayeux Tapestry and the Cathedral. The room rate included a continental breakfast and free wi-fi.

Home base for local tourist sightsPosted Oct 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
I would rate the Aggarthi more as a B&B than a hotel. The owner was very friendly, helpful and good advice on the local tourist sites. Room was clean, bathroom, good but could have used more towels (only 1 supplied per person) and heat was not on in the room so a bit damp. Breakfast included crepes, croissants and juice , coffee and tea, Dining room where we ate was in the owner's home and was too congested and table full of decorations, etc. Parking on street no problem, good free wifi connection and walking distance to many good restaurants. Fridge available if needed.
