“Definitely Economy Accomodations”
This hotel was a little difficult to find as it is not in a major hotel area, but once we found it there is good security as you have to enter a code to get in the building. There are not, however, lights in the parking lot. Parking was adequate and the lobby was staffed for a reasonable amount of hours with staff that did speak English. Some of the drawbacks of this hotel: Our king sized bed was essentially a day bed with the trundle pulled up, everything costs something--internet usage, laundry, breakfast, even phone. There is a Mcdonald's, however, nearby where you can get free wi-fi. The laundry was expensive and the dryer was not very effective. Some of the pluses: price of course, the hotel was convienent to major roadways and we used as a jumping off point to tour Normandy and the D-day beaches, good sized bathroom and there is a kitchenette. I don't know if I would stay at this hotel again if I was in Normandy as I think Bayeux may be a better location to tour from as it is smaller. Caen is a large sitting and when you go into the city center it is easy to get lost while driving a car. I was disappointed about the internet being 10 euros a day and at the annoying dryer but the place was pretty quiet and inexpensive. No frills hotel but not a bad stay.
