Comfortable,functional, convenient

Needs to be brightened up internally. Corridors are a bit like a cell block. Restaurant closed because it was Bastille Day. Not impressed!!!

Close to Brittany Ferry Port

Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable. Good breakfast. Very nice restaurant for fine dining. I block from a liquor/ beer store and Esso gas station. Short walk to town.
Location: We visited Juno, Omaha & Sword DDay beaches and Pegasus Bridge DDay site. Bayeau, Caen and both the American and Canadian cemeteries. All are with in
This hotel meets all of the Best Western requirements. Clean and comfortable. Very good Wifi and breakfast. We ate in the dining room one evening and were very please with the service and food. Definitely fine dining. Centrally located for all the DDay beaches and close to Caen. I recommend renting a car but the local taxi service was very good to us. We rented a car on the second day. A taxi to Juno cost 60 Euros each way.a taxi to the hotel from the ferry was 7 euros but it is only just over a 1 kilometer away so you can walk. We were very disappointed that we had to take a taxi to Caen at a cost of 47 euros in order to get a car rental although Eurocar let us return the car to the ferry port instead of Caen. I am told that car rentals will deliver to Ouistreham but we could seem to have that request filled by any company. I do know that we arrived on a Sunday and stayed during a very busy time although it was 3 days after the 70 anniversary of DDay and that may of been why we could not get a car. Beware the car rentals are closed on Sundays. We visited Juno, Omaha & Sword DDay beaches and Pegasus Bridge DDay site. Bayeau, Caen and both the American and Canadian cemeteries. All are with in a 50 kilometer radius and worth a visit. We did go to see the Bayeau tapestry but I really would not recommend for children. The town is beautiful though with lots of parking.

Location brilliant for Caen ferry port

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: Convenient location for ferry
Cons: Decor, lighting & room facilities. Only tiny plastic mini cups provided for tea/coffee in room with plastic stirers. Access to hotel from car park.
Location: Excellent location for many sites of Second World War eg Pegasus Bridge and beach landings.
We chose this hotel for its location which proved ideal for close proximity to ferry terminal. However, hotel was dark & dismal with brown walls and low lighting. My husband has difficulty walking but the entrance door close to car park was kept locked. We wanted dinner on Sunday evening but restaurant was closed.

Great place to start your motoring/cycling holiday

Posted May 21, 2014
We were cycling the D day area so having arrived at 9.30pm this is an ideal first night stopover. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast room and food very nice - all you need really. Price was also sensible around £75

Convenient for early morning Ferry

Posted May 7, 2014
Pros: Conveninet location arriving from the South and route to the Car Ferry
Cons: Open the Restaurant!
We stayed in the hotel on the way back from SW France as a stopover before taking the 08:30 from Oiustreham. The hotel is conveniently placed just off the main road into Ouistreham coming from the Caen direction. The hotel has its own free car park and is clean and looks recently refurbished. We did arrive about 20:30 and were looking forward to just relaxing there with a meal in their restaurant. However, the restaurant was closed - Easter Monday! The hotel partially redeemed itself through their receptionist who was very friendly and helpful and guided us into the town where there are a number of good restaurants to choose from - but arrive before 21:00!

Convenient location and good food

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: It is closene to the ferry and comfortable with good food.
Location: We visited the Normandy beaches on our first visit, and this time went to Honfleur (delightful seaside resort) and Livarot (cheese).
This was our second stay at the hotel. It is only a short drive from the ferry, the staff are helpful and it is stylishly decorated. This time we enjoyed two excellent dinners including juicy oysters, local pork and delicious carpaccio of apple - good value, too.

A night in Normandy

Posted Mar 18, 2014
Pros: Close to the port but far enough away to be just out of town
Cons: Maybe the bar could be open longer for those coming off a late ferry
Location: Beach Town Shops all close by
Arrived from the ferry at 21.45 after a very short drive arrived at the Best Western with my partner and our dog. We delayed our travel arrangements the next day and had a great walk along the beach that morning

A good place to stay over when catching a ferry

Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Proximity to Brittany Ferries.
Cons: I feel that the housekeeping should have know about furniture damage not for it to be left to the client to sit on a chair and end up on the floor.
Location: It is a convenience hotel for people travellinb to and from england/france.
For me it was the convenience of getting a hotel near to my departure point. The hotel was clean and the room adequate. Did not like the television being in the middle of the wall as you had to look up to see is. Was unable to sit at the desk as the chair in the room was broken (reported to reception). Did not use the restaurant as the menu seemed rather expensive and therefore went to a local restaurant that I have used before in Ouistreham.
