how can this hotel get 3 stars?Posted Jun 26, 2013
A room size of a telephone booth sold for 3 people (with extra for the 3rd person). 4 walls one bed and nothing more. Minimal closet space. Away from everywhere. And above average price.

Stop off hotelPosted Apr 8, 2013
Pros: Good value
It's a budget hotel and did exactly what we expected, ie provide a bed for the night before we made an early start for Spain. If you expect a lot of frills, then this isn't for you but if you want the basics, it's a good cheap solution.

Campanile cannot be bothered!Posted Jul 26, 2012
We arrived at the hotel around 8 pm after a very long journey to find that the hotel restaurant was closed and being redeveloped. I had only booked this a week before and was very disappointed that no one had been bothered to inform us of this BEFORE we booked. We had breakfast the following morning in an annexe room, which was also being used as Reception. It was not big enough for the amount of people there and young children were running about the room and not being supervised by their parents. The receptionist/manager(?) just ignored them. This is a very poor reflection on the whole Campanile chain, which we have used before on several occasions and found to be generally satisfactory.

Best avoidPosted Jul 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
Firstly, this hotel is hard to find and quite a tricky manoeuvre even with a satnav. The approaches to Caen (very much worth viewing as a city) are decidedly not straightforward. Secondly, we found the staff not very helpful (in direct contrast to our three other hotel stays) and bordering on hostile. You can always tell when an establishment is not a happy one. Also the motel is somewhat run-down and wasn't as clean as some others we stayed in. The only positives were the bed, which was comfortable, and the breakfast, which was fine. On the whole, best avoided.

Tout Simple!Posted Jun 22, 2012
Easy to find, quiet, clean, good value. Only cloud was the 'bi-lingual' clerk wearing a Union flag suggesting Enlish-speaker who could not speak a word of English. Unlike an earlier visit to another in the Campanile chain, this hotel was in great condition, everything worked.

Hotel Campanile - Mondeville - nice stayPosted Aug 10, 2010 on Hotels.com
We had a lot of trouble finding the hotel as we were not at all familiar with the area. We also found the restaurant a bit pricey, and the food was only so-so. Otherwise, our stay was great.

Great hotel if it meets your needsPosted Mar 16, 2009 on Hotels.com
I was very impressed with the quality of the hotel given the price. It was perfect for our needs. We needed somewhere we could drive in and crash for the night nothing special. We were driving to visit Caen Memorial and Omaha beach, but didn't want to deal with driving around in Caen City Centre and paying too much when we were only in the room for 9 hours total. The reception closed at 11pm but we were running late, called the lady, and she hid the key for us to get in after hours. The room was clean and comfortable.
