Convenient self catering hotel next to Gold BeachPosted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: Very convenient to visit the Normandy WWII area
Location: Really convenient to see the area around the Normandy landing beaches and tourist/visitor sites.
Overnight stay to visit Gold Beach as part of our tour around Normandy. Simple, clean accommodation - everything we needed for a quick stay with helpful, accommodating staff.

Very personable staff, really enjoyed our stay-breakfast was very good. Towels were thin and pillows were just plain lousy but overall very nice stay.

Excellent HolidayPosted May 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
The Proprietor was so nice and helpful. The Location could not have been better and the room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Kitchen area needs re-thinking but was fully equipped and manageable. The beds were comfortable and lots of clothes storage in the bedroom. The only drawback is, with no window or vent in the mezzanine bedroom it got rather stuffy for sleeping. A couple of close restaurants, a village store and bread shop a very short stroll from the hotel is very handy. Positioned right by the beach. We would definitely recommend a stay here, a good base to visit the Landing beaches and the towns of Bayeux and Caen and very many more places of interest.

It is a great little place with excellent staff. The place was clean and in a great area to see all the sights. The staff were very helpful and have some great tips for the tourist sites.

Great hotel for the pricePosted Apr 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
The staff is very helpfull as it is 1 lady that runs the desk everyday and another that does the cleaning. They are very hospitable and will do what they can to make your stay enjoyable. Please note that the desk is not 24/7. Try to arrive around 1700 or call to let her know when you are planning on arriving. Our room was stocked with plenty of utensils and cookware, however the glasses were only juice size. My wife and I slept on the sofa sleeper quite comfortably while our teenage boys slept in the twin beds. Overall a good hotel that I would stay in again.

Bizarre experiencePosted Jun 25, 2012 on Hotels.com
First of all, there isn't anywhere that one is warned that one must make their own bed. We were given out sheets and pillow cases to make our beds. I have never seen this happen before, not even at a Motel 6, or IBIS hotels in Europe! You are not given any toilet paper, bath soap, or dishwashing soap. If you arrive in the night, you are definitely out of luck on the toilet paper and soap scene, as most groceries close at 8 pm. The manager is friendly, but runs the hotel like a boot camp. The room was very clean though, and even if they say a room holds 4 people, you'd have to be quite skinny to manage 4 in one of these apartments. We had what was called a 2 BR room, where upstairs was the bedroom (beds were hard), and downstairs had bathroom, microscopic kitchen and tiny living area. The sofa pulls out as a sleeper sofa, but again, you have to be super tiny to use this as a bed. I tried to imagine taking my 6' 2" son and 5' 8" daughter along next time, but we would need TWO, TWO BEDROOM units!! Gold beach is beautiful though (the beach area).
