“Would definately return to this great hotel”

An elegant and very friendly hotel. The staff was very accommodating, including making up our room early, so we could rest after our flight from the U.S. Our room was more like a suite, with a separate small sitting area, a well-decorated bedroom and a spacious bathroom. The buffet breakfast was extensive and was included in the room rate. The hotel is walking distance to the great shopping at Lion Yard and to the colleges and sights of Cambridge.

“Best in Cambridge”

Don't judge a book by its cover. The front of this hotel looks llike a 1960 cement nightmare with no character. But, inside it's stepping back to an elegant era. Lovely wood paneling, high celings, chandeliers, beautiful carpets, stained glass and leather couches you never want to leave. Staff are first rate and friendly, breakfast delicious with many choices and don't miss a late night drink at the bar overlooking Parkers Piece. On top of that the price is right and it's as downtown as you can get in Cambridge by the colleges, malls, Fitzwilliam Museum, river, market and the ever popular Eagle pub of Nobel Prize fame. And don't miss the elevator - it's the prize of the hotel. Almost forgot, nice rooms as well. I travel a lot and I've seen good and bad. This is one of the best.

“Great place to stay”

Despite offers of hotels outside Cambridge, for a little more, you get a lot at the University Arms. The location is superb and the hotel itself is great. If/when I go back to Cambridge I would definitely stay there again.

“A great location”

This was a great spot. The food was fantastic in the restaurant and the service excellent. The location was very close to some poplar night spots and as our stay was over Friday and Saturday nights, it was very noisy.

“Unexpected pleasure”

I had booked this hotel with out reading any reviews. When I subsequently read them there were some negative comments so we were a little concerned about the booking. The hotel far exceeded our expectations, it was conveniently located to the town, the staff were helpful, the rooms had charm, comfort and were spotless and the breakfast in the dining room excellent. I would unhesitatingly recommend this property to others.

“Beatiful; enjoyed the stay”

Beautiful setting, 200 year old establishment. Not really the DeVere 'resort' that they claim it since fitness facilities are across town. Pleasant bar overlooking ancient commons; although we listened to a supervisor give annual employee review at the next table.

“Brilliant Breakfast”

An incredibly well situated hotel for seeing Cambridge Colleges and for shopping. A wonderful selection at breakfast and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, especially the guy on reception who remembered our name 2 days later! We were a little taken aback to have to pay for parking our car, but given the compactness of the city and the lack of parking space, this was understandable.

“Good points and bad”

Nice hotel, friendly staff, very convenient location. Easy walking distance to colleges and downtown amenities. Physical infrastructure is dated (persistent heavy drip from my shower) but common areas are nice. DON"T accept a room on the park side. View is nice but the park is a magnet for rowdy teenagers who party noisily into the early hours. Found it impossible to sleep before 2 a.m. even with all windows closed.
