Disappointing

Pros: Pleasant staff and good breakfast, although no fruit or yoghurt available on cold buffet.
Cons: The whole place needs attention.
Location: We stayed to visit friends .easy access to Flag Fen.
Shame they propped the table up against the bed. As we moved it found out why! wobbly leg , Had to fold up our newspaper to balance table to use it so that we could make a cup of tea.

Pros: Sunday Carvery Very nice village, quiet and friendly
Cons: Money spent on the old place!
Location: Lovely church. nice walks and a great Restaurant in nearby village. [The Dog and Doublet]
There was a disco going on till 12midnight However it did finish on time as promised

Alright but....

The room was OK but.. over 50% of the lights in the room and bathroom either had no bulb, were broken or had blown bulbs. The confirmation from hotels.com stated that free breakfast was included - it wasn't. Likewise the provision of a clock/radio in the room didn't happen. When I went to checkout there were no staff anywhere in the hotel so I just left the keys on the bar and went.

You get what you pay for at The Falcon. After all it is a very old village pub and very reasonably priced, with safe off-street parking. The bedroom was recently redecorated, clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. THE BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING, FRESHLY COOKED TO ORDER, AND VERY GOOD. Thank you landlord !!

Pros: Location.
Cons: Carpet in room needs cleaning or replacing. New bed & bedding.
Visiting friends & this was the nearest hotel so this is why we chose it. The hotel/pub was very dated needs updating. Very basic. The pub has a function room & the bar staff said they have functions there most weekends so be prepared for loud music until late. Room was cold but there was a small electric fan heater which we used. The bathroom was basic & again in not good repair, the sink had a big crack in it. The bed was very small & the bedding didn't fit the bed no pillowcases on some of the pillows. The bed was lumpy & not very comfy. There was tea making facilities but this was a small travel kettle that took ages to boil. Can not comment on the breakfast as it was a buffet so we did not have it but you could smell it from the room.

Glad it was only one night!

On arrival we were greeted pleasantly and shown to our room which seemed ok. Then we realised there was one towel between us. We were found more towels which looked old, being greyish white and very thin. We slept badly because the room was cold, no extra covers supplied. Breakfast was ok but the owner hung around too much chatting while we were eating. Then when we were leaving, our friends who stayed in another room were told the bill was not paid. I went down to confront the owner, and after some tapping on the computer he found our name - he had been looking at another guest details - he agreed it had been paid. he didn`t really apologise but said he wasn`t with it this morning. One more thing - the car park was inadequate and poorly maintained.

Karaoke nightmare

Pros: |Breakfast was fine
Cons: Decor very tired, communication re what is on when you book especially if it is something loud like Karaoke or Disco.
Location: Son and new Grandson 10 doors up the road, enough said
booked in no trouble, room OK but tired. arrived back at hotel at 9:30 to find a Karaoke night was on no prior warning. Our room was directly above and you could feel vibration through feet; was informed Karaoke would finish by midnight. Asked for another room but on checking room not made up and bed and mattress in poor stated of repair. If you cant beat them join them stayed up until 11:30, midnight went by and at 12:15 I decided to complain. Spoke to bar staff who had a word with Karaoke people, music stopped 10 minutes later.

All was very good, except for one night when I went out for dinner, I came back and no one was at the hotel and my key wouldn't fit in the lock! I was in a bit of a panic, but luckily two very nice gentle man came to my aid. I am quite sure the problem won't happen again.The owner was away.When he found out he promptly rang me to apology. Thank you.
