Classic, beautiful old world hotel.Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Quiet location, the special friendly laid back atmosphere, easy parking, wonderful menu. Interesting hotel walls featuring WW2 aircraft + WW2 articles
Cons: WiFi in the room would be an improvement.
Location: The aircraft museum to visit. Although we did not visit this museum it is highly regarded by other history buff guests.
The stay at the John Barleycorn was a special experience. The hotel is very special and well presented, the staff were very welcoming and the general atmosphere was warm and we felt part of the local scene.

Quaint Country PubPosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Easy for motorway. Good service. Very quiet at night. Lovely food.
Cons: Some better lighting in the bathroom.
Location: Great location for IWM at Duxford, Cambridge and easy access to motorway. Duxford village is also really pretty.
We stayed 2 nights. The service and welcome was very personal from all staff. Rooms are compact and a little dark, but understandable due to the age of the building - it was all very authentic. Meals in the pub were delicious, with excellent beer.

Great historic tavern, modest roomPosted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: Great food, wonderful friendly people, beautifully restored old pub.
Cons: Update bedroom furnishings?
Location: It is near Cambridge, where the university is located.
We stayed here for one night on our way to Cambridge. The 17th century tavern is amazing and the staff there is terrific. The hotel rooms, however, are modest--there are just a few in a building out back.

Old country pub near DuxfordPosted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Free parking and excellent food.
Location: In the village of Duxford within 5 minutes of Duxford airfield and branch of Imperial War Museum.
Good location for a visit to Duxford airfield. We stayed two nights and had fantastic evening meals and breakfast. On-site free parking was good and rooms easy to reach from car park and pub. Quiet village location. Only disadvantage was that the rooms are next to the beer garden so not quiet until late with the windows open - hot summer days during our stay so we had to cool the room before we could sleep.

Ca 20 Minuten von Cambridge entfernt, sehr ruhig.Posted Jun 10, 2015

Very convenient to IWM DuxfordPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: Convenient, clean, parking, breakfast.
Cons: Drain maintenance.
Location: Duxford, Cambridgeshire, less than half a mile from the aerodrome.
Convenient pub rooms if you're attending an event at or visiting the IWM Duxford. Quiet on a coolish Sunday night. (Might have been noisier on a warm weekend night since the rooms front the outside garden.) Room 1 is equipped with twin beds and a handicapped bathroom. A bit odd to have the shower just an overhead sprayer in the room, with a slightly dodgy drain. (Take a quick shower or the water begins to lap around the bottom of the toilet and threaten to head out the door!) Very pleasant staff, decent pub dinner, hearty English breakfast. Nice memorabilia of WWII flying crews that frequented the pub.
