“Excellent location in most charming town”

Campeche is a most charming town and the Hotel Castelmar permits you to stay in its midst, with the ancient city wall and water in immediate view. Parking is available and carefully watched by the hotel staff, wonderful restaurants and the town square are all near by. Staff has limited English but enough to guide you sufficiently and always warm and helpful.

The Staff was very friendly,, spoke just enough English, had good recommendations for sights and restaurants. The Hotel was spotless, beautiful, colonial hotel. Lovely continental breakfast included. Evening turn down service, with fresh towels, and chocolates-- a wonderful treat. Very nice.

“Colonial Gem in Campeche”

This was my first visit to Campeche but my third to the Yucatan area. Location is always a key factor in my choice of hotel when visiting for the first time as well as value for dollars spent . Being in a setting that allows me to experience the local culture, is also very important. Staying at the the Hotel Castelmar is an experience that allows you to savour the rich colonial past of Campeche, a UNESCO World Heritage site. No detail has been overlooked in its care and upkeep. The staff are attentive and helpful. Its' location, just minutes from the ocean or the town's main plaza, are ideal for the traveler who would want to explore thoroghly the historical, colonial center. The Hotel Castelmar is a true colonial gem and a Class ACT!

“Perfect base for exploring the old city”

The Castlemar is an old converted army fort. This means that most rooms do not have any outside windows, but instead face onto a lovely galleried interior courtyard. The door has an upper portion that you can open for natural light and air (there is AC in each room if you want it, and you will, as Campeche is a very hot and humid city). We were a little concerned about leaving it open at night (it cools down to about 20 C), as we prefer to sleep without the AC running, but as there was a room safe and full time security, we did anyway and had no problems at all. If you are mobility impaired, be aware that there is no elevator here- ask for a main floor room. The decor is simple, traditional, and lovely. The place is quiet and spotless. There were plenty of plenty of towels and lots of hot water in the spacious bathroom. Bottled water is provided free on request, and there was a turndown service. While there wasn't wi-fi, the hotel had a couple of computers available in the lobby which you could use for free. There is TV in the room, lots of channels. There's no bar on site, so if you want a nightcap, bring your own. The only food available is a continental breakfast, we found it not to be a good value- recommend that you visit one of the many excellent restaurants nearby. Our only major disappointment during our stay here was that they never told us about the swimming pool- it was gorgeous, and we didn't find it until just before we were to check out!

“I love this hotel and Campeche”

Ther people at the hotel is so lovely and kind. The hotel is beautiful with a nice mosaic floors, is a very traditional place with great rooms. If you travel to Campeche and the Mayan area, is great place to stay.

We'd loved this hotel - it was very clean, nicely laid out (with a small courtyard in the middle where you eat breakfast) and the staff were very kind. I've travelled all over Mexico and this was one of my favourite little hotels.

“Great Campeche Hotel in Great Location”

The hotel was very nice, clean, and quiet. The pool area was private and a nice getaway from the bustle of the rest of the city. We had it mostly to ourselves. The hotel had a lot of character and charm. Other than a slight language barrier with Spanish and English everything was great.
