Not in Çannakale, despite what Google maps says

Posted Mar 23, 2013 on Hotels
The map that I received from Hotels.com indicated that this hotel was on the Çannakale side of the Dardanelles. It is not. As its name suggests, it's actually in Eceabat. It's a short walk from the ferry dock, so if you're coming from Istanbul, don't cross on the ferry. Other than the map mix-up, it is in a very good location, overlooking the Dardanelles. I don't think it lives up to the standards I expect from a 4-star hotel, but I also didn't pay a 4-star price for it.

How is this four stars?

Posted Sep 15, 2012
Pros: View
Cons: Service
Location: Good access to the Gallipoli war fields.
After three months of traveling and enjoying generally good service and clean hotels in many countries this failed on both counts. The bathroom had mould all over the ceiling, there was hair in the shower recess and there were holes in the ceiling where light fittings had been removed. The service was poor, they gave no information about services, the front receptionist smoked in the foyer and the hot water system failed but no apology was forth coming and no information given that it wasn't working. It was beyond us how Expedia could have been given this hotel four stars as it clearly wasn't of that rating.

Good hotel with helpful friendly staff. Decor is a little dated as were facilities such as the TV.Parking is in front of the hotel in the street. Not off street . Very basic breakfast.Only instant coffee available and no butter or margarine.
