"Best Hotel I've Stayed In"
Excellent hotel, full of character. The furnishings are immaculate and extremely comfortable. The staff are the friendliest I have encountered in a lifetime of travelling. Very good canal-side location close to a tram stop and within a few minutes walking distance of the central Dam Square. The decoration of the bar is spectacular as are their speciality gin and tonics flavoured with rosemary and thyme or basil and orange for example. Be careful getting on a bicycle after a couple never mind driving!

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Canal Ring Hampshire Business Hotels

The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic much–photographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
