We stayed in the spa suite and Our Room was massive and so beautiful! Also loved how breakfast was included, it had everything you could want. Everyone was friendly. This my new favourite hotel! Will definitely be back

Central Location

Pros: very modern unit, excellent outlook
Cons: A full length mirror would be a vast improvement in the unit
Location: As referred earlier - location was good for the purpose of our stay
This hotel was centrally located for the purpose of our visit yo Canberra - room facilities were excellent.

The hotel room is not what we expected on a 3 star hotel as advertised. The floor carpet is dirty. Hotel staff is friendly though.

Close to the city

Pros: They have a great swimming pool/gym and about 15 minute walk to the city. The cleaning staff are great.
Cons: The carpet lock spikes were the carpet joins the tiles in the kitchen are sticking up and our grandchildren both got cut.
We enjoyed our stay especially the swimming pool. The 2brm apartment was comfortable with all the facilities most families would need. The road noise was noticeable but not so bad that we couldn't sleep. The cleaning staff were helpful and friendly. There are no locks in the main bathroom/toilet. The one major disappointment was that our grandchildren who visited got cut on the spikes that hold the carpet down. I made the man at reception aware of the problem. When we arrived back for our second stay we got the same room and the spikes had not been fixed. Very poor!!

Pros: The staff and the break fast. - and the room met my needs.
Cons: Level of staffing. 1 person overnight isn't great
Location: Great location - access to most things in Canberra within a 20 minute drive.
First the Good Points - great staff, comfortable and clean room, if basic. Great Breakfast and good daily rate. But 3 things spoiled it: - Parking - free parking is advertised, but I didn't find out it wasn't guaranteed until 11pm on the first night of my stay when there was nowhere to park. Staff couldn't advise where I could park - eventually they allowed me to park out the front - on the drive way as long as I didn't block anyone. A major disappointment as parking was one of the reasons I chose that hotel. One of my colleagues had to park 3 blocks away. Not good in a strange city late at night. - Luke warm shower, first thing in the morning on Sunday at 6.30am. Not a great way to start the day - Fire alarm at 3.30am the day before I left. We stood on the driveway for 45 minutes because the fireman didn't have access to the area where the alarm had been triggered. Not great! Why wasn't the access readily available? There seemed to be only 1 person on staff - a lot of pressure to put on this person also not great. It turned out that dust from the renovations had set it off. A false alarm that could have been solved a lot quicker with easier access. I don't think I will be staying at the Rex again unless things are improved.

Tired and extremely old

Hotel foyer looks great but rooms need a massive renovation. Does look like a cent has been spent in the last 20 years. Thread bare and stained carpet, dingy hallways. Only one lift worked and my sons were actually scared to ride in it because of the noise it made. Mismatched furniture and extremely tiny room. A/C remote was missing. Tiny old CRT TV. Bathroom was incredibly tiny. I'm 6'2" and there was a bulkhead in the shower so low I had to kneel down to get under the shower. It's in a good location but needs a massive upgrade. Won't be staying here again as the price is way too high for the condition.

The staff didn't seem interested in your questions or queries, the rooms and corridors felt cheap and had a strange smell. The television didn't have all the free to air channels. The rooms had a door that took you into the room next door and I couldn't lock mine which lead to the children in the room next door opening my door on occasion. Room service would try to come into my room regardless of the fact I had my "do no disturb" sign on. And room service got my order wrong.

Cons: Why the top two floors are renovated it will be great
Location: Went to the Canberra Theatre.
Because we were upgraded because the TV did 't work in the first room the experience was lovely. The first room was just three star but the second was definitely four star.
