King spa suitePosted Apr 26, 2015
Pros: The pillows king bed and quiet rooms
Cons: We stay at this hotel quiet a bit I would like to see rates for frequent stayers.
Location: Markets are close so is the railway and a short walk to the Kingston hotel for a meal a taxi ride is cheap to the Kingston and always prompt
This was our second weekend at the diplomat always a pleasure to stay there excellent beds and pillows are amazing and quiet room. On our first visit in the king spa suite there was 4 towels provided for my husband and I but on our second visit only two towels and one of the robes did not have a tie to wrap around you these things must not have been checked by housekeeping. Otherwise We will always stay at the Diplomat when visiting canberra.

Nice central hotel.Posted Apr 22, 2015
We enjoyed our stay here in the week preceding Anzac Day when Canberra is buzzing. The hotel is quiet, the staff were very friendly and helpful with ideas and directions and having the restaurant was very convenient considering the cold and windy weather we experienced! Our room was clean and comfortable however we did find the lighting a but dim. Overall we liked it and will definitely return.

Canberra VisitPosted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: Central location
Location: It is close to Parliament House and only a short drive to the War memorial. The only downside to Canberra is the city centre which needs an uplift.
We visited Canberra for the Last Post Ceremony at the War Memorial as my great uncle was commemorated that night (April 7) and found the Diplomat to be a lovely hotel at a good price. The facilities were good and the staff helpful.

Nice Hotel -Terrible restaurant servicePosted Apr 16, 2015
Cons: Dining service
Location: Close to excellent strip shopping centre and sports oval
Restaurant service very poor had to ask for breakfast bain- marees to be filled each morning of our stay, cutlery and plates were never available in any quantity. Service at dinner was slack, waited 3/4 hr for one serving of garlic bread and 90 mins for mains to be served on a very quiet night.

Hotel was central to many site seeing stops.Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: The hotel was clean and catering staff were able to meet our requests.
Cons: The size of the cups in the rooms.
Location: I was not familiar with Canberra and our stay was short but we managed a few well known sites.
We only stayed one night but overall experience was pleasant.

Chose the hotel to be near the airport, on the last night of an Easter break in Canberra and South Coast. It was OK, but the breakfast was not great.

The Diplomat was a good value for money hotel.Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: The staff were very helpful
Cons: The breakfast buffet was pretty average and the coffee not so great, but there are many cafes locally.
Whilst the building, rooms and facilities may be a bit dated, the staff were very attentive and helpful. The location being close to Kingston and Manuka is good and there was ample parking onsite. Some road and train noise (steam train whistle) could be heard, but wasn't over the top.

Great for tbe price.Posted Mar 18, 2015
This hotel is very clean. It is a basic but nice rooms, a little old but well maintained. I was extremely happy with this hotel as I wasn't expecting something as good for the price. Parking was off street and there was p,enty of it. The hotel has a nice ambience, as it was an old libary and they have lots of books around. Pleasant stay.
