Our Canberra Getaway

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Complimentary, undercover parking. Restaurant. Gym. Great rooms. Wonderful restaurant. Excellent staff from house keeping to the General Manager.
Cons: A HEATED POOL PLEASE (from our 7yo daughter)
Location: Parliament House, Old Parliament House, The National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, QUESTACON, The National Museum.
With our plan to visit the many cultural and child related activities, the Diplomat Hotel provided the ideal location due to its proximity to all of the attractions we had planned to visit. Spending our days enjoying the many wonderful places to see in Canberra, returning to a welcoming, comfortable hotel, and hotel room to unwind was very important to us. Whit the addition of its high quality restaurant, and room service available, the Diplomat offers everything you need when travelling to Canberra.

Facilities were good and room size and quality good also. Staff were very pleasant to deal with and accommodating when asked for things such as late breakfast. Food was 3/5

Excellent value for money.

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: All of it.
Cons: Staff to be more enthusiastic. Take those circle roads out of Canberra so hotel is easier to get back to??
Location: Not far from the city precinct.
Lovely, quirky hotel. Homely feel. Love the "books". Got to read a novel during my stay and then leave it behind. Happy hour - relaxing.

short stay

Posted May 13, 2014
Pros: had everything needed
Cons: The bar staff was a bit unfriendly and happy hour was very expensive
Location: close to all that we needed
very comfortable, very clean and very quite! The bed was one of the most comfortable beds that I have slept in at any hotel. The aircon was a bit noisy but overall very good hotel to stay at and will again.

A great place to stay

Posted May 5, 2014
Pros: It was nice and clean and we enjoyed the ambience of the place.
Cons: The bar and dinning staff could have been a little more friendly.
Location: great location for us as we enjoyed using the public transport to get around.
We enjoyed our stay in the Diplomat and would be happy to recommend it to others. It was clean, comfortable and quite. Being close to the railway station and other transport was very helpful for us.

Pleasant hotel close to Kingston eating places.

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: location - walking distance to the Kingston eateries
Cons: The shower over the bath was not a good design as water splashed all over bathroom floor which made it very slippery and unsafe. Decor seemed dated.
Spent 2 nights, explored Australian War Memorial and did mountainbiking at Mt Stromlo Park. Enjoyed the local restaurants.

Diplomat very convenient

Posted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: Convenience, comfy beds.
Cons: Decor, gym is terrible, showers are slippery.
Location: Great. Close to Manuka, Kingston and galleries. Everything really. Close to city.
Always stay at the Diplomat when in Canberra. Clean, free wifi and generous sized rooms. Good beds. On the downside, it is becoming a bit tired looking and the 'gym' is non existent. Doesn't even boast a treadmill. Still, it is comfortable and convenient to galleries, and nice shops and restaurants in Manuka and Kingston. Not in Canberra City but I prefer that.

Pleasant hotel close to the station

Posted Feb 18, 2014
The check-in staff were pleasant and helpful. On the first day it was a good experience, the second night of our stay we tried the restaurant - food was nice however our waiter wasn't very pleasant and took our meals away without asking whether we were finished. Overall it was a nice experience.
