Nice hotel in central locationPosted Jul 24, 2014
Received a complementary upgrade upon arrival. Staff were generally very nice and helpful apart from one staff member who was quite rude. Good location, moderate walk to most attractions. Had an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant. Would definitely stay here again.

Quiet stayPosted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Staff are very friendly
Cons: Hot breakfast when asked for would be nice.
Location: Location is very good near the city and shops.
Overall the stay was good except for the bed it was very hard and uncomfortable. The room was clean and well appointed. The restaurant is very good with a fair selection of meals but I bit over priced. Breakfast was terrible cold bacon and eggs and coffee was also cool.

A journey back in timePosted Jul 16, 2014
Very basic refurb of a 1970s hotel. Noisy wall mounted air con that will keep you awake. Otherwise you are getting what you pay for...find another $30 per night and treat yourself elsewhere.

Excellent budget hotelPosted Jul 5, 2014
Staying in Canberra for a conference at ANU and needed something close and comfortable. Cannot fault the Mantra as it had all I needed the room was huge, with living area and kitchen and even had a wahing machine and drier in the large bathroom, not that I used them. In house dining well priced, both breakfast and evening. Only gripe not enough milk for coffee/tea, but that was easily remedied with a convenience store round the corner. Strongly recommended, and I would use the hotel and chain again.

Nice hotel excellent staff. Great locationPosted Jun 30, 2014
Cons: A few tiles in shower discoloured but I am very picky most people would not have noticed .
Location: Super location. So many cafés and restaurants ,close to everything .
Best thing was the complimentary bottle of wine awaiting our arrival . In today's context nothing is complimentary so very nice touch Mantra.

Nice hotel close walk to the city centrePosted Jun 25, 2014
Pros: Price, features, locality
Cons: Staff could be more polite when answering questions and not speak down to guests. Another guest I spoke to also had this problem
Was very reasonable and close to the city heart so you can walk there

RoomyPosted Jun 23, 2014
Got a free upgrade which was nice, however it was on the second floor and the balcony lead to a massive building/car park..so no sun what so ever got into the room. Makes me wonder how the original room would of been. Condition seemed a bit neglected, marks on the walls, old furnisher. Very roomy, good kitchen, good bathroom (combined with washing machine)

Good service, but poor roomsPosted May 7, 2014
Pros: Good service (understanding, reasonable). Good breakfast. Decent location. Parking.
Cons: Rooms need renovating. Air cons replaced. Stereo replaced. Wall patched.
Location: Short walk to CBD, long walk to Capital Hill.
We had 2 rooms essentially. Both had very dated, noisy, and slow aircon. The stereo in the main room had ugly brown spill stains on the speakers. That might be forgivable for a relatively new stereo, too recent to replace, but this stereo still had a tape deck. Big hole/dint in the wall hidden behind a chair. The whole place really needed to be renovated. It felt far from 4.5 star. However service was good. The buffet breakfast was tasty and well catered. The rooms were relatively comfortable overall, and large, but needs work.

Good location in canberra cbdPosted Apr 22, 2014
This hotel was okay for a one night stay but wouldn't want to stay longer. Hotel is comfortable but quite old which made the room quite noisy from outside hotel due to thin windows so traffic and people noise was annoying through the night, also ac/heater was something out of a museum and was the noisiest, rattling thing you could get. They have spent money tidying place but failed to spend on important areas in the rooms. Pool is pretty cool in the basement. Also parking at an additional cost in your own car park, just put it in the room rate.
