“AMAZING...AMAZING...AMAZING!!”

The Avalon was amazing. We had no issues with plumbing or water at all. We stayed in a villa and the bed was huge but it was hard but we were always so tired at night it didnt bother us. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One thing is if you do go here I would definitely take a taxi to the hotel instead of lugging your bags through the heat. The hotel is located on the best part of the whole island!! wonderful beach and super close to shops and restaurants. We didnt eat at the hotel because there were so many places in town. We will definitely be coming back to the Avalon...hopefully with our kids next time!

“Shoulda Bought ATime Share!”

The hotel itself was O.K.,the suites are awesome! The Villas are even better! The food is out of this world! What the actual hotel didnt have , the view and beach made up for. The location of this hotel is like something out of a movie! Me and my wife fell in love with the island. The people there are amazingly nice! The only bad thing we could really say about it is the fact that everything closes at about 12:30a.m. Other than that it was perfect. We like to travel all over ,usually to places we have never been. We will make this a "must do" in our future vacations! The Avalon is so nice, I should have bought a time share.

“Avalon is great except for the beds!!! You will love Isla!”

The hotel is awesome except for the hard as rock beds. The rooms are sparce but who wants to stay in a hotel room when you are on vacation? The water went out a time or two, no big deal. We enjoyed the breakfast plan. Drinks were sort of pricey compared to N Beach area and other restaurants. The service at the hotel is A+!

“Perfect quick relaxing getaway”

I recommend getting the all-inclusive package (food and drinks are great and include room service)... with that, there's no need to leave the little private island for your whole relaxing stay!

“Beautiful setting walking distance from downtown”

We stayed at the Avalon Reef Club from June 18th-26th, 2007. The hotel is located in the northern most point of the island, it is the only hotel found in this tip of reef. We were very happy with our room, it had all the basic needs, the beds were comfortable and the room and hotel very clean and well kept. We had a slight clogging problem with the shower, but again, it is a very common problem in most of the beach hotels I have ever been to in Mexico (my country of origin). The AC worked well, they have cable tv and a safe which you can use free of charge. The room we had (as I think most) overlooked the ocean, you could hear it at night which was great. Right as you come in to the hotel you have a small beach area, however, remember Isla and Cozumel are islands located near coral reef so don't expect to have great lengths of gorgeous sandy beaches, however, there are several spots where you can comfortably get in the water, The ocean water outside the hotel is beautiful, turquoise blue and clear , we had a nice time seeing some beautiful fish and ocean life. We did not do the all inclusive but chose to eat out which worked very well! Without bags this hotel is very centrally located and easy to walk to and from. It is about three short blocks away from the down town area where restaurants and shops.

“Avalon is good!”

Just spent my 6th time at the Avalon since 08. Seems like they are improving on the grounds keeping. Food was good, cleanliness of the room was good. What more could you ask for.

“Beautiful!”

Great location and value. Upgraded to the Villa room which was worth it for the private balcony with sunrise views over the ocean.

“Isal Mujures (Heaven on Earth)”

My husband and I took a much needed get away to Isla Mujeres in Jan 09. We stayed at the Avalon Reef Club. We were very amazed at the hopitiality and the culture. The grounds at Avalon are beautiful. The island is great. People are friendly, the shopping is grand, and the food is excellent. We plan to return in May to see the sites we missed in Jan. This may very well be our home away from home.

“A hidden jewel among an island at peace”

We planned this trip about 4 months in advance in hopes of a quiet and relaxing getaway which is exactly what we found! We stayed for one week in April through an all-inclusive package. The staff was great and very attentive although we found that some of the older waitors were really bad at serving us while being at the becking call of the older vactioners or families. Juan is the activity coordinator and does a really good job providing activities for the day but there wasn't much to do at night. The hotel is secured and truly private without any vendors. As written in previous reviews, the beach has really taken a lashing from Wilma a few years back leaving it with very limited beach area. The breakfest and lunch were pretty good but dinner was rough a couple nights. Drinks were average, only served a couple beers which were fine. The restaurant by reservation had a paucity of entres and only offered a rib eye and lobster for an extra $30 USD which was ridiculous. We were initially apprehensive about this place given previous reviews(like people seriously complaining about Mexican people not speaking English, go to hawaii if you're not going to make an attempt--we spoke spanish but not a significant language barrier for others). Overall a really nice stay and would definitely recommend for couples, older crowds, and families as it's a very low key place.

“Paradise Found”

Location, location, location! Great service, great food, great beach. Could not have been better. Great shower in bathroom, plain studio room with balcony, sunrise over ocean spectacular. All inclusive we ate only at the hotel and the food was GREAT! Good snorkeling in the lagoon just off the beach, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. It was heaven on earth and we will be back.
