Rooms are average nice rooms, lots of pillows on bed but not very soft, no bath, clean, nice pool, small beach swimming area with lots of beach lounge chairs and enough shade when wanted. Mini fridge is stocked with soda and a few beers and couple waters daily. Food is just your typical buffet food. The other places to eat had some good entrees but kinda same stuff....we like Mexico Lindo most. Has a small store inside. The Nightly shows at hotel are usually good entertainment. Not much around the area except for the tours and ruins to go visit. Service was good all around. Taxi cost to airport is $30. More of a secluded trip at this hotel. Seems nice for families. We had a relaxing and fun trip. Go to Xelha if you want to go on an adventure, it was very safe and organized.

Hotel is OK but bad beach location

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Hotel is OK. Beach NOT great (very small and you breath the boat's exhaust gases since they go right by their beach). Good Hotel location if you are doing outside hotel activities. Room and pool are clean and overall hotel is "OK" I will not go back since again their beach is not in a good location.

Für Leute, die gern Trubel mögen

Posted Apr 12, 2015

Pros: I loved the food! The drinks were a little strong but delicious.
Cons: Our room's air conditioning was not working. Good thing it wasn't that hot in Cancun, otherwise I would have been uncomfortable.
Location: It has a nice little beach. The extra activities that the hotel offers such as parasailing was great! I recommend it!
Barcelo Costa Cancun is a small but great hotel to spend your vacation. The restaurants' food is exquisite. Loved the seafood restaurant!! I highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely book this hotel again next time I visit Cancun.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely . The view was awesome . Resort is kinda far from everything . When arrived i wasnt pleased with my room . the room looked nothing like the pictures on their site or Expedia . Explained to front desk and they let me view other rooms and switch ! DO NOT exchange your US dollars for Pesos at the airport . Just about all places excepts US Dollars . If not you can exchange at the resort . if you pay with US dollars they will pay you back in pesos .

Hotel includes a nice pool and beach area

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Pros: Hotel was clean and well kept
Cons: Food was not great for vegetarians.
Location: A bit far from the nightlife scene and the major businesses, but still catered to by tour companies and buses.
Hotel had three different restaurants and snacks throughout the night. Drinks were unlimited and there was even a beach bar outside. Staff was quick and courteous, although there were some rules to follow that were inconvenient, such as not seating yourself or adding people to your table and not being able to order drinks directly at the restaurant. The option of a pool and saltwater ocean was very nice. Both were very clean. Ocean did not have many larger waves though. Kayaking and jet skiing were available on site, which was very convenient and fun.

For a midscale resort it's nice

Posted Apr 1, 2015
Cons: The staff could have been a little friendlier by simply greeting or speaking as you passed them. The sliding door didn't latch. Better drink menus.
Location: Public bussing runs right in front of the building. The pirate ships are next door. The ferry to Isla Mujeres is beside that.
Took my 17 year old son for his first trip to Cancun. I've stayed at several resorts in Cancun, this one was a midscale resort and it showed. For a first trip it's great, if you are expecting to be overly wowed check out some where else. The resort was clean, and modernized to a decent degree. The buffet closes after lunch and doesn't open until supper, I would like to have seen it open all day. To partake in the other dining areas you have to have reservations, that must be made by noon. There is a surcharge for room service of $5.00 per entree. There is an area on the 2nd floor that has 24hr drinks and snack food available. The buffet did have a variety and the staff was very friendly, speaking english that was easily understood. The bars were nice, and the pool was staffed well providing drinks to those sitting around the pool or ocean. Room fridge was stocked with water, pop, beer, a couple packs of peanuts and chocolate wafers.

Wonderful spring break

Posted Mar 28, 2015
Pros: Beautiful views, attentive and friendly staff, variety of activities and events
Location: Mexican marketplace, restaurants, shopping, nightlife
We had a wonderful vacation to Barcelo Costa. The resort was clean, the staff were friendly and the entertainment staff did a wonderful job. The pool and beach were well maintained and there were always plenty of chairs available. WiFi is available for purchase and the staff gives you a coupon book upon checkin that has discounts available on wifi. You can also pick up free wifi on the beach from other nearby resorts. The restaurants all had good food with a wide selection, and the Mexican restaurant was by far the best. Make reservations early in the morning as they fill up fast! The rooms were a perfect size although the bathrooms are small.

Fun time. Little language barrier with housekeepi

Only thing I didn't like was having to make dinner reservations between 7:00 am and 8:30 am for that evening or they were completely booked.
