Very personal experience- attentive staff - waiters - made us feel like we were not a number. If your looking for fancy and big and new ... This is not that. Even a little dated ( renovations are coming soon ). But Very Clean. Beach was GREAT! Plenty of chairs - even cabanas. Swim up bar where Balfazar kept the alliinclusive drinks flowing. Food was OK- Sushi Rest was awesome ! Loved the upgraded Jacuzzi room with a ocean view- sleeping with the window open was very relaxing.

A relaxing, quiet getaway.

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: Beautiful space, contemporary design, wonderful food, beautiful pool and beaches, very tranquil.
Cons: Jacuzzi was not hot. It was far too cold to enjoy and with the wind and overcast weather, we would have really used it!
Location: We enjoyed horseback riding at the El Ray Country Club, and that the El Ray ruins were walking distance. Transportation is very easy to use.
Overall, a very relaxing and pleasing experience. Perfect for a quite, relaxing getaway. For someone looking to avoid large resorts. Adults only experience was the best.

Relaxing Place Right on the Beach

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Relaxing experience with complimentary sparkling wine to watch sunset on 6th floor.
Cons: VERY BAD Wi-fi connection, even on the main level. So, expect to get a rest from the internet.
My second time at Bel Air Cancun, first being in Dec-Jan 2010. Cozy place right on the beach with warm staff and attentive life guards. Competitively priced for a budget traveler. Large pool, if you don't like waves. This winter there is a lot of seaweed and the staff were cleaning the beach pretty fast. Nice one mile walk along the beach towards the small light house next to Club Med hotel will lead you to the calmer seas protected by some rocks with an area to snorkel. If you are into wildlife, you can explore those rocks and find iguanas basking in the sun.

Disappointing

Posted Jan 11, 2015
Pros: Private beach and pool are nice and its location is good.
Checking in and out took long waiting time. The staff is not willing to help. The boiler was broken and there was no hot water for shower for two days.

Do not stay here

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The only positive to this hotel is the infinity pool. Its well maintained.
Cons: Staff friendliness, Wifi, bed sheets don't even fit the bed (the last foot of the mattress is exposed), fitness center, etc
This was probably my 15th time to Cancun and because I booked my Expedia package last minute on New Years Eve (8 hours before I was ready to fly), this seemed to be the only hotel with availability. Upon arrival, I knew that this place was going to be terrible. The check in process is extremely inefficient and probably the worst process I have ever experienced. There are two small desks to sit down at - and people just gather in the lobby waiting until someone is ready to sit them at the desk. No "line" to stand in. Although check in is at 3pm, I was still told my room would not be ready until about 3:45. With the exception of a couple staff members, the service at this place is very poor. The staff are lazy, slow, reluctant to really want to please you. I did the all-inclusive package and it was not worth it. You are better off going to Walmart to buy alcohol and snacks and then going out to eat at night, rather than drink at the hotel bar, pool bar or eating at the hotel restaurant. It takes forever to be waited on and then served. The wifi is only in the hotel lobby and its not very good. The fitness center is the most pathetic fitness center on the planet: 4 stationary bikes and none of them worked (broken seats, rusty pulley cables, etc), an antiquated treadmill and one piece of weight equipment that is old and rusty. They should be ashamed to even have a "fitness center".

Wi-fi is a fiction.

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: far from noisy parts of cancun
Cons: Wi-fi and English or French language communication
Wi-fi is not working in the rooms and barely in the lobby. The staff is nice but doesn't speak much English. Otherwise I like the location, the beach, the unique style.

The hotel is reasonable given the price. The room is clean. The staffs are friendly. But the internet connection is really bad, almost not working.

We paid for an ocean view, we got a lake view.

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Plumbing was terrible, we had to change rooms 3 times!!! The water would not go down in the shower and the floor in the laboratory was soaking in water not to mention the floor was granite. Food tastes like it came out of a box or TV dinner. Manager and staff didn't care about correcting the ocean view- we paid a lot of money for a wasted trip.

Unpretentious Get Away in Cancun - Great Staff

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: The entire staff works very hard. Jesus and Lucio at the front desk, really helped us out when we had some trouble with our cab on the way home. BRAVO
Cons: We would NOT recommend going to Market 28. It is about a forty minute bus ride. Very agressive merchants! Go to the sml market near the high end area
Location: The $1 bus ride on the R-2 or R-1 is reliable, safe and fast. Bring a lot of singles for tipping and for the bus rides. Runs 24 hours, right outside.
Ocean view rooms look out over the pool and then to a beautiful beach and ocean. You will not be disappointed with the endless stretch of soft, clean sand. With your sliding glass door open you will certainly hear the ocean throughout the day and night and the ocean breezes made the room a pleasure to stay in. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. We felt the temperature of the pool was perfect (as was the temperature of the ocean) and towels, reclining chairs, and umbrellas were plentiful. We highly recommend an ocean-view room over a lagoon-view room. Ask for floors 5 or 6 for your room and ask for a balcony you can sit out on because some “balconies” are really only a foot deep with a rail to hold on to as you look out your “window”. The concierge was able to change our room upon request. We just needed to wait two hours and were very happy with our new room. Our first room did not have a working safe but the second room we had, on a higher floor did have a safe with a digital lockBecause the hotel is small, all ocean side rooms look out to the pool area. Music throughout the day from the bar can be loud if you like to take a nap with the sliding glass doors open. Coffee and pastries are available in the lobby at 6 a.m.. Coffee and a small dessert is also available at 5 p.m. in the lobby and sparkling wine and a small dessert is available on the sixth floor looking out to the lagoon at sunset. All complimentary. Great diversity of guests from all around the world
