Great patio and location

The location was excellent. Loved the beach being yards away. The patio was fabulous for hanging out and watching the occasional afternoon rain. Clean but needs some updates.

Location, location

You are at isla muheres... I guess you love the beach. Well, the best feature of this hotel is its location, on the beach, actually the best beach of the isla. The rooms are large and comfortable on the 2nd floor but you cant sleep with the windows open due to noise from the aircons or power generator. Its a no frills hotel with big and comfy rooms but on excellent location!!

Very adequate hotel with partial ocean views.

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Location, pool, price
Cons: More coffee at breakfast, better water pressure in shower. Ice trays provided on check in and a coffee pot in room would have been a nice touch.
Location: Main street with restaurants and shopping 5 minute walk. Beach massages $35-40 right on beach excellent. Sea wall 5 minute walk.
Clean rooms, water pressure in shower could have been better. Nice balcony. Bottled water provided. Pool clean and refreshing. Adequate for folks on a budget, right on ocean. Nothing extravagant. Could have provided more coffee refills with continental breakfast, only 2 small cups came with breakfast. Coffee is so cheap and would have been a nice touch.

Bare bones with excellent location

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Pros: Location location location
Cons: To be able to exchange beach towels every day instead of every 3 days
Location: Walking distance to the main strip w shopping and restaurants and steps from the beach. What more do you need?
If you get what you pay for, then I got a LOT more then I had expected. Listen, for the price this is a total gem. The location is perfect, steps from the beach and walkable to the main street area as well as some of my favorite restaurants. Everything was so convenient that we didnt even need to rent a golf cart. I went with 5 girlfriends for my bachelorette weekend and it was perfect. Isla Mujeres is quaint, safe and very low-key. If you're lookng for a fancy resort, this is not your place. If you're looking to unwind and get some sun on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and eat ceviche all day long, this is your place. We just pretty much slept in the rooms so it was fine. It was clean and the beds were fine. The first room they gave me had some mosquitoes in the room (i think it was too close to the pool?) so I asked them to move us and the woman was super accommodating.

Perfect location

Pros: The location to the beach is fantastic, and the beach is the nicest on the island. The beds were very comfortable.
Cons: The restaurant and bar had terrible service when we were there. The contl brkfst could have other than white toast, esp w/ the great pastries there.
Location: Renting a golf cart in town allowed us to see lots of the island and we snorkeled several days.
My husband and I mistakenly booked a room in the Castle section that was remodeled, confusing that building with the Tower when looking at the photos. The room was clean with nice bedding. The d├ęcor was disappointing although I think they are going for a modern look. Everything was white...walls, bedding, window covering, metal wall lights, but in contrast the furnishings were shabby cheap pieces. The balcony overlooked the small busy street going down to the beach so it's not at all private or peaceful, and with no roof over it, the sun made it impossible for us to enjoy. The staff graciously relocated us the next day to a first floor room in the Tower section, which is more traditionally decorated, quiet and lovely.

Nice hotel very close to the beach

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: I liked the location, general style and price of this hotel.
Cons: WiFi in the rooms or at least on the balcony.
Location: This hotel is right on the beach that you will use daily and just a 10 minute walk to just about everything in town that you would want to do.
Cabanas Maria del Mar is a very good hotel for the money. It is not fancy or modern at all, but its location and price makes it a great buy. It is located on the most popular beach on Isla Mujeres so you can leave your room and be on the beach in just a few minutes. The staff were all helpful. They are going through a little remodeling now by re surfacing the sidewalks and repainting the buildings on the property but nothing that inconvenienced us at all. The one drawback that I think might be significant to some guests is that the rooms do not have internet or wifi in them. You have to go to the lobby of the hotel or Buho's (the restaurant next door) to get online.

Great location.... great price.

Pros: Location, price, courtyard, pool
Cons: Really need wifi in the rooms.
Location: Just around the corner from the main strip with tons of restaurants, shops and things to do. The beach is literally just a few feet away.
We spent a lot of time searching the island to see if we could find something we might like better for future stays. But we couldn't find anything as close to the beach with all the amenities this hotel had to offer for the great price. We will definitely be back.

Great location

Pros: Location,location,location
Cons: Lighting in rooms and showers
Location: Steps to best beach and easy walk to many wonderful restaurants
Great location on the best beach on island. Walking distance ( blocks) to many restaurants. Rooms very plain but clean and maid service daily. Need more light in rooms and would be nice to have a chair in room. Water temperature in showers variable-scalding to cold. The grounds are nice. Did not care to pay sixty pesos a day for beach chair. Breakfast adequate for us- 2 pieces of toast (peanut butter/jam) , fresh orange juice, and coffee.

Has loc and thats it do yourself a fav n walk 5min

Posted Mar 28, 2014
Pros: It has location
Cons: read above about how to treat a customer
130 US dollars a night for toilets that dont work, water pressure is better if you spit on yourself to shower, not that we were there to watch TV but it would be nice to have something other than a 13 incher from 1983, when we finally gave up after 3rd night and found a beautiful place for 40 dollars per night, had one more little issue. Forgot a phone charger in old place, returned to retrieve it, and because when I requested key to retrieve charger was past checkout time, they established that time as my checkout time, and decided to charge me another night to simply retrieve charger, it cost me a nights stay for a 5 dollar charger retrieval that took 2 minutes max.
