Turquesa on the Caribbean

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: the beach
Cons: see above
Location: beach, unless you like the Las Vegas atmosphere of the Zona Hoteleria of Cancun.
Expedia made a mistake with my reservation and more or less spoiled my hotel stay. I arrived at the hotel at 9 p.m. after 13 hours of traveling from the U.S. to Cancun and had a kid with the flu. I was told by the evening desk clerk at Hotel Turquesa that the room I booked: a partial ocean view, two beds, 1 adult/2 kids, had not been booked. He said it was for two people and no view and one bed. I specifically booked a room with two beds when I made the reservation. So, after something close to an argument, the hotel clerk said that since I had three people (1 adult, 2 kids) I had to pay for a different room. Since I made the reservation through Expedia and paid them, Turquesa couldn't really help me with Expedia's reservation system. The Hotel Turquesa evening desk manager told me I had 3 people and had to pay more. I had to book a different room and spend more money. I paid for the different room (too tired to argue anymore!), the tub flooded onto the patio, the guy at the beach in the morning insisted that one of my kids pay $5 to use a boogie board from the hotel in the ocean.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Turquesa. Staff was friendly and helpful. Small pool was excellent for the kids. Gorgeous beach. Ocean front rooms were comfortable and well sized, although the beds were firm. Breakfast and lunch food and service by the pool were great. Probably best to eat dinner elsewhere as the food at the upstairs restaurant was slow and the ambiance lacking. Overall would highly recommend for families over the all inclusive mega hotels that dominate the hotel zone.

Pros: Painting on the walls and view to private beach
Malfunctioned bathroom fixed only after a day, everything has a feeling of being too old

Quite boutique hotel on the beach

This hotel was very quite, which was exactly what my wife and I wanted. The hotel never felt crowded and the staff was fully attentive. The beach area was absolutely gorgeous chairs and umbrellas readily available. The breakfast was amazing!

Wohl eines der besten Hotels vor Ort

Posted Nov 24, 2014
abseits und daher ruhig zu finden, sehr nettes und informatives Personal bzw. Besitzer. Kleine,. aber feine Zimmer, in Tulum gibt es wohl in dieser Preisklasse nichts besseres.

Affordable luxury, great service & aging gracefuly

Posted Oct 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
I was wary of staying Cancun given the reputation for all inclusive holidays and machine-like hotels but Casa Turquesa was a pleasure. The staff were warm and friendly in a manner rarely encountered in a boutique hotel or even a B&B - way ahead of the big hotel chains. Art work is everywhere to been seen, some of it awful but some excellent. I saw references to an infinity pool in other reviews, let's be clear, it's not an infinity pool but it does have a superb view although shallow. It's hard to find a bad beach in Cancun - this is no exception - the beach is spectacular with a benefit that the hawkers seem to blissfully ignore you. Brilliantly located in walking distance to La Isla & a number of excellent (non-hotel) restaurants. The hotel is aging and lacks for some investment, which translates into relatively cheap access to luxury - nearly all rooms have a view of the sea & are extremely spacious. The air con was however loud and if you are a light sleeper and heavy user of aircon you may find sleeping peacefully difficult (I'm not sure if this is hotel wide problem). However if like me you prefer to rely on the sea breeze and exhausting yourself swimming in the Caribbean, eating, drinking and enjoying the sun you'll not notice the air con. Restaurant did a good breakfast and passable lunch at reasonable prices. All in all, excellent value for money, enjoyable hotel and I shouldn't have worried about having to stay in Cancun.

Nicht zu empfehlen!

Der Laden gehört dringend renoviert! Die gesamte Anlage versprüht den Charme der 80er. Seitdem wurde wohl auch nichts mehr investiert...

Quiet, small, getaway in the heart of Cancun

Posted Aug 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel bills itself as the only boutique hotel in the Cancun hotel zone, and is filled with interesting art and has a very nice layout, with marble floors in the palatial rooms, some of which lead directly out to the pool overlooking the ocean. The location is fantastic - right in the middle of the hotel zone, and the staff were all very nice. Be ready for fewer and slower services, however, since it is a boutique hotel. For example, I had to hunt around for the towel guy and the pool/beach bar closed really early (I think 5pm). If you want a quiet stay in beautiful surroundings, Casa Turquesa is a great bet.
