Over booked by 10%

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: We were able to eat dinner at each of the 5 speciality restaurants during our stay and enjoyed an excellent meal each of these night.
Cons: Activities for guests.
After having looked forward to this vacation for the months, traveling 3 hours to airport, then a 4 hour flight upon arriving at hotel was told at check in the motel was overbooked and my husband and I would be staying at motel next door. We traveled with another couple who were not bumped next door. My husband and I could still use the amenities at Crown Paradise but our friends could not come next door, could not call between motels and we did not have international calling on our phones in order to stay in contact with friends. To make a long story short our first 2 days of vacation were not very enjoyable and the Crown Paradise offered nothing as compensation in way of upgrade or even an apology for their mistake.

Has gone a little down hill since last stay.

Posted Jan 28, 2015
Pros: adult pool area, nice music, more relaxing
Cons: Fire Carla in the store, was very rude & mean, look how close the bottles of shampoo are on the shelf, knocked one off and made me pay, it was fine.
Location: liked the lunch cruise at aqua world, did a fish pedicure there also, was kind of fun
Food was not as good as the past, 1 pool bar was not enough for the amount of people around 2 pools, very long wait lines for a drink. Room service in the crown club rooms now have an added fee, used to love the shrimp salad, and it was removed from list. Did like the addition of crepes at night in buffet but need 2 chefs making them again super long lines. Some of the bartenders were very friendly and we tipped them well because of it, crabbier ones did not get tips. Liked the pre made sushi not as long of a wait but really miss the tempura shrimp that you no longer have.

It's a good hotel for staying with Kids.

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Kids activities.
Cons: Update the rooms.
Location: Good beach.
Overall good experience. They have a lot of things for kids to do, and that was the purpose of our trip. The room did need some updating, but it is clean so that's not a big deal. It caters to families with kids, so if you are a couple without kids may want to go to a more quite hotel. We paid for an "ocean view" standard room on Expedia, but they told us that there is no "ocean view" standard room. We could get a glimpse of the ocean if we twisted our necks on the balcony. It seemed false advertising and they blamed it on Expedia. They have 5 "a la carte" restaurants and a buffet restaurant. They make you call every day to book table for the next evening at the a la carte restaurants, which is annoying. Some of hotel guests showed poor manner. For example, I got up with my kid to get a glass of water at the buffet restaurant and when I came back the guests at the table beside us had taken our chairs despite that I had left her stroller at the table. It was clearly them because they were the only table with extra chairs. They saw me standing holding my kid and looking for chairs but didn't bother to apologize and return the chairs. Also I witnessed a guest in the buffet restaurant putting hand in the French fries tray. Or at an evening show I got up to tell my kid not to go on stage and someone quickly sat on my chair and refused to give it back. Not sure if their advertisement targets lower middle class.

Family friendly hotel but not much for adult group

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Lots of activities for kids on property but not much for adult only groups. Staff is very friendly. Food and drinks weren't great. small portions in restaurants other than buffet. Drinks were never made the same from one bar to next. Made in small glasses and even saw one waitress on beach re-use glasses she had picked up and taken to bar and refilled.

Great place for kids

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Stayed jan 17-24 With 2 kids 3 1/2 and 5 1/2. This is the place to be if you have kids. Everything is there to entertain them and you never need to leave the resort. Also very safe and the entertainment staff does a great job, working long hours always with a genuine smile. Hotel itself is a 3.5 to 4 star so don't expect 5 star amenities (but you are not paying 5 star prices either). Overall what you pay vs. what you get is totally worth it. There is a show every night at 8.30 and they were great. The décor was pretty, rooms were adequate, beach was clean (even though a little rough for young kids this time of year), pools were nice and clean (even though started showing their age, big steps to make it in and out made it a little difficult). The best thing were the people, they work very hard so please show your appreciation and tip accordingly. My biggest critique about this place will be food quality. We ate at all the specialty restaurants and the cafeteria and with the exception of the French restaurant we thought the food was very bland, almost tasteless. If they were restaurants in my home town I would not go back. I think they need chef Ramsey to come in and whip this place into shape. I feel the restaurants were beautiful, the ingredients are there, presentation and service was nice, they just need to prepare better tastier food. The restaurants served the best drinks in all the resort. I feel this place can be great with little tweaks here and there.

condition of hotel rooms

Posted Jan 23, 2015
Pros: kids paradise
Cons: conditions of the rooms and time of the pools and reservations policy for the restaurants
Staying on the bottom floor suites smell like mildew. couches were old and dirty, our bath tub would not drain . our view was of the decrepid old hotel ruins next door. pools closed too early.

Cancun has a very humid climate and it is a constant struggle to maintain all areas mold free. I will certainly address this issue with Housekeeping and we will work even harder to maintain all areas in best conditions possible. I would like to offer you an apology for the inconveniences you encountered and to thank you for staying with us. Kind regards, Katarina P

good hotel, but do not deliver what they offer

Posted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: near the beach, the kids club is good. the pools are nice.
Cons: they should offer free access to wifi
good hotel, but do not deliver what they offer, the day arrives they had no rooms available and sent me to another hotel (bad) for two nights ... Then I was offered a room at the back superior and neither fulfilled.

Below Average Buffet Food and Very POOR Service

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Amenities for families with children.
Cons: Food at the buffet needs to improve big time with respect to selection and taste. Customer service and English speaking skills need to improve.
Location: 30 minute bus ride to the market. Buses run 24hrs and you pay $1 USD per person.
The resort was alright. However, the food at the buffet wasn't good enough for the amount they charge. Staff working at the buffet did not care. You actually had to find a table on your own and then wait for 20 minutes for cutlery and then another 15 minutes for coffee. Service was so terrible that we started picking up cutlery and pouring the coffee on our own. Food at the buffet was that tasty as well. It seemed like they didn't have good chefs. I hardly wanted to go to the buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Majority of the resort staff did not speak English, which was very surprising. This hotel has good amenities for families with children, but I'm not sure if its worth the cost. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back.
