Recreation
The majority of recreational facilities and activities described below are included in the room rate for this resort (scroll up to the All-Inclusive details section for more information).
Dreams Cancún Resort's main beach extends 200 meters (219 yards) along a bay west of Cancún Island's northernmost point called Punta Cancún. Here the water remains calm in most weather, offers snorkeling opportunities, and features a large offshore trampoline raft. Overlooking the beach is a 15-person spa tub.
Another beach, measuring 68.5 meters (75 yards), faces the open sea east of the point. Beaches are furnished with padded lounge chairs and thatched-roof palapas. Swimming is also available in the resort's placid saltwater lagoon, which measures roughly 68.5-by-68.5 meters (75-by-75 yards) and laps against the resort's pyramid wing on one side and a beach with lounge chairs on the other.
Fresh-water swimming options comprise an irregularly shaped 30.5-meter-long (100-ft) heated pool adjacent to the lagoon and a 16.5-meter-long (18-yard) freeform pool outside the resort's tower near the open-sea beach. Both pools are bordered by umbrellas and thickly cushioned teak lounge chairs.
As part of the All-Inclusive Plan, guests are permitted to use kayaks, snorkeling gear, and Hobie Cat sailboats off the calm-water beach and AquaTrikes in the lagoon. For surcharges, an independent operator at the resort offers personal watercraft, water skiing, banana-boating, snorkeling excursions, and scuba diving instruction and excursions.
A paved jogging/strolling path extends through a green lawn along the pyramid wing's sea-facing side, offering panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea rolling against Punta Cancún. Along the path is a ruin of a Mayan shrine that is 500-800 years old. The path also passes a rocky point on whose tip rises a red-and-white-striped column topped by a marine-navigation light. A suspended rope aids guests walking to the light.
Other complimentary recreational facilities include a bungee-cord trampoline and a lighted tennis court. Yoga classes are offered on the lagoon beach. The 18-hole Pok-Ta-Pok Golf Club is two km (1.25 miles) from the resort, and the 18-hole Hilton golf course is 7.5 km (4.75 miles).
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the resort; fees may apply.

“Better than home”
This was the eighth time at Dreams Cancun for my wife and I. The service of the staff is excellent and the quality of food is exquisite. It is nice to be able to dine at any restaurant, three outdoors overlooking the carribean sea, at your convenience.........no reservations needed. We will be back.......just not soon enough. The amresort people could back off a bit with the time share pressure.
“Good Times”
very good time spent, the food was great so were the accomodations. the only area that may not be as greatly covered was the kids activities, there should be more activities for the little ones where they could be just let go and enjoy.
“Fantastic relaxation”
Loved the staff at all areas in the hotel. Fabulous beach--clean and basically private as it sits at the end of the hotel line. Refreshments readily available at several bar locations. We prefer the beach over the pool (which is small for the size of the hotel). Loved to see the dolphins everyday. Never carried a watch and we were able to thoroughly relax. Would only recommend declining timeshare like presentation, otherwise loved our stay.
“Old but feels good”
We really like the service and kindness from all the employees, they are really doing the best to make you feel good. The food was excellent, lots of variety with different restaurant options available. The guests activities were also great, we liked the night shows as well as swimming with dolphins. There is a beautiful walk along the coast inside the hotel. Nice vegetation indoors. Things to improve: rooms may need some remodeling as well as buildings. The beach space is very limited.
“Didn't live up to the expectation”
this was my honeymoon trip with my fiancee. we returned from our last years' vacation and decided to visit Dream due to a friend's recommendation. We are planning not to talk to this friend for a long time. The hotel itself was nice as well as the location. The food was satisfying as well. but the level of service they provided was at the bottom of the drain. the was our SECOND time back to Cancun, so of course we had expectations. We paid more than we did last year so hoping to get the same in return. This hotel is OLD. Even though it's still nice with a very good location. It is no where as flashy as the other establishments. the service crew don't greet you, don't smile at you, English proficiency is no where near a qualifying service provider. Our worst part was at the checkout when they told us we ordered movies that did not take place. we ended up paying $32 USD for 53mins of movie. The movie must have came with golden eggs or something. They wouldn't tell us what movie it was either. I would REALLY reconsider before booking this hotel.
“Most wonderful resort for kids and parents looking for a break!”
We were looking for a relaxed atmosphere that enabled my husband and I to enjoy each others company and for the kids to have some fun activities to do. My 4 and 6 year old were in heaven - the kids club was amazing and they didn't want to leave. It stays open until 9:30pm enabling my husband and I to enjoy a relaxed lunch, and an evening together knowing that they were having a wonderful time. I have never met such patient and charming kids club staff - they really made our experience at the resort. The staff throughout the hotel were charming and incredibly helpful and the whole experience was wonderful. The food was great with 5 restaurants and the drinks were plentiful and generous on the alcohol. For those looking for less children and a more relaxed experience the separate pool and huge beach in front of the tower was perfect. All in all an ideal spot for those with children and those without. We highly recommend it.
“Perfect location and a great value.”
This was our first experience with an all-inclusive type resort and with two children, we were looking forward to this family friendly resort. We were pleasantly suprised with the comfort and convenience of it all. The resort is not too big but really the perfect size for a family with small children. The location of Dreams is it's shining point. It sits on it's very own tiny peninsula with a great little private beach on the bay side and a great long stretch of beach on the Carribean side. The pool is not large but it was never too crowded, even during the holiday week that we were there. The service was good and although gratuity is included, we tipped on occasion when we felt that the staff was above and beyond. The rooms are not luxurious but very comfortable. We had a dolphin lagoon and ocean view room in the Pyramid tower and we would definitely request that again. The restaurants were all good and the sushi was terrific at Himitsu. The resort is in need of a remodel with lots of exterior signs of wear but that I'm sure will come in time. I recommend this experience to any family looking for a fun filled, safe and quality getaway that turned out to be a really great value.
“Very nice!”
Great time!
“Average”
Pros: Beautiful white sand beach with clean turquoise ocean. Hotel conveniently located next to shopping malls, restaurants and night clubs. Cons: Very average food selection in restaurants. No free Wi-Fi. Hotel needs renovation: bathrooms, doors and all electronics are very old.
“definitely going back”
The Resort was very clean and well maintained. The atomosphere and daily events were awesome. The entire staff were very polite and friendly. I will definitely be going back!
