Best of all we've experienced!

Posted Dec 16, 2014
Location: Only 25 minutes from the airport. We didn't leave the resort, even though there is plenty of attractions around.
We have been to 9 different all inclusive resorts over the past 8 years, and this place tops them all! Food is better, service is top notch, and the room and amenities are wonderful. We will definitely return!

Beautiful grounds, great staff

Go with the excellence club- better beach access and private heated pools. Started out tough-- we were in building 9 facing the construction next door-- after three nights we were upgraded to a room with a rooftop in bldg 7! Loved it! They aim to please and they made up for our first three days. Although there are about 450 rooms-- there are plenty of places to get privacy and if you want to be with the crowd - hang at the large pool where there are plenty of activities, music and drinks-- there are bars and service staff everywhere ready to get you whatever you want. The excellence club has a private beach area and the staff was fabulous! Service was great everywhere-Shout out to Caralina, Rosa, Delana, - all helped with our new room and Nelson;bldg 9, - thanks for the champagne and dessert!and all the staff at the excellence club pool in building 7&8.

Very nice hotel. It's as nice as the pictures you see online. Beautiful grounds, including pools, facilities, etc. But do not go for the beach. It is not attractive, with LOTS of seaweed.

The food was just ok but the staff was awesome and very friendly. rooms are very big and nicely equipped. beds are hard but they have a mattress pad you can put on to soften it up. I would recommend this place for sure.

The Excellence is truly an Excellent Experience.

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: The entire resort looks and feels brand new, due to the large committed maintenance staff. It opened about 2006.
Cons: More coconut ice cream.
Location: We have been to Mexico many times so we did not feel the need to leave the compound. We were never without entertainment or things to do.
We have been searching for the perfect hotel for over 30 years and thought we had found it when we arrived at the Excellence Playa Mujeres in the afternoon. Everything was beyond our expectations; the service on our arrival, from the Receptionist and Bell Boys, our room and then cocktails, dinner and entertainment until time for bed. All perfection. In the morning we discovered the only weakness of the resort. The beach had a lot of sea weed in the ocean and on the beach. The staff worked diligently from very early in the morning to clear an imposable situation with several large tractors towing mechanical rakes, but the ocean kept bringing more. The last 2 days, the wind switched and like magic, the beach was as advertised. Next minor flaw, the lazy river nearest the beach (there are 2) gets little direct sun so the water is cold (74 degrees). The very large pool with a swim-up bar is heated and about 84, about the same as the ocean. So swim in the ocean, if the wind is right and stay in the large pool, no problem. The Excellence club pools are also heated but are smaller. These 2 flaws are easily ignored but does prevent the Excellence from achieving a full 5/5 perfect score. You can't beat Mother Nature.

Great hotel, well maintained.

one of the nices rooms I have had at a resort in a long time. Grounds are well maintained and staff is excellent. Luis and Ever at the pool and beach bars were outstanding. Food at the restaurants for dinner was average. Nightly entertainment was great. I will definitely be back.

awesome staff/great value, a few things misleading

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Pros: amazing staff. safe. clean. loved the incense!
Cons: Heat those pools!!! Fresh juice bar could be better. Also, the entertainement at night is SO loud, couldnt sleep w/out tv on to block out noise.
Location: $15 cab to Isle mujeres Ferry ($12-$15 per person, 20 minutes) The most beautiful beach is Northbeach (walkable). Rent golf card $50, Eat @mango cafe
staff is amazing! Like nicest ever on this planet.. breakfast is great & lunch is typical resort food a notch up. good options. dinner... well... it's FINER resort food but definitely not amazing. at the lobster house, the boiled lobster is the way to go and be sure to get TWO. All of the other restaurants were mediocre (Basmati and the Flavor Market and Lobster House (not the appetizers, lobster only), were the best experiences. Spice was next in line. The STAFF friendliness and willingness to do anything for you made it a wonderful experience. The negative: Beach is full of seaweed and the pools are COLD. Even the heated pool (which there is only 1) is still cold. (unless you And December and January in Cancun are not that hot, so you need to turn that heat up. Even 5 degrees would make such a difference. We were looking SO forward to the lazy river but it was friken freezing! No one was in it. What a waste of beauty. Also, the hot tubs are mediocrely warm and they said they can't turn them up. Again, huge bummer! When we go on vacation the biggest thing for us is to enjoy the beach & pools. The beach was FULL of seaweed, ok not their fault. But then why not heat the pools? The juice bar is not what I'd really call a fresh juice bar. It came out of a plastic can which was overly sweet and they threw one little cut piece of apple in the whole juice. And entertainment at night is SUPER loud. we couldn't sleep without TV on and it goes late....

Décevant

Posted Dec 11, 2014
