Very nice quiet place to relax

Posted Mar 27, 2015
We loved this hotel. They changed our room next day and upgraded for free to an ocean front room since it is our 25th anniversary! We had a wonderful experience with staff and the live jazz everyday at the lobby. Many choices of restaurants to use and with the advantage of being able to use all the facilities of next door Royal Solaris it was a great vacation to remember forever. They gave us Lobster dinner for one night and delicious food everyday at the buffet. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Nice place to stay

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: I like being able to use the sister hotel and it was easy to get to. The hotel was safe for my teens to walk about.
Cons: The food was ok, the kids had a harder time finding items they liked, thank goodness you can order chicken nuggets at any of the restaurants.
Location: Not much to do nearby had to take city bus into down town
Hotel was nice and clean. Stay away from the time shares. We also found the price of the excursions depends on who you ask. I would suggest to bring one dollar bills for tipping. The waiters/ staff were all very friendly.

beautiful beach, nice and friendly staff

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: The staff is so nice and friendly, wonderful night show, beautiful beach.
Cons: Could do something to reduce the humidity of the room( my coat is so smelly and my passport curls up). Cooking skill need improved.
Overall, it's a good hotel to stay except the humidity in the room( too much humidity make you feel uncomfortable while I don't think the staff can do anything about it). The staff is so nice and friendly especially Martin the reception desk, Gorby for cleaning my room everyday if I call their names right. They helped a lot and just make me feel like at home. The night entertaining show is so nice, they did a wonderful job. Lots of food choice, while that would be nicer if their cooking skill could be improved a little bit more. Lobster and other sea food doesn't taste good(my son could cook better than that, just boiling with water and salt would taste better than that) although the cook pay a lot of attention on the dish presentation. The pizza bar doing a good job, we eat a lot of pizza after we feel disappointed about the restaurants.

Beautiful pool and beach area.

Posted Mar 22, 2015
Pros: There was plenty of room around the pool and beach area. I did not feel crowded.
Cons: It would be nice to have a list of activities and times for both GR and Royal delivered to the room or could be picked up at the front desk.
Location: We rode the bus to the market, excursions and to church.
Enjoyed our stay but disappointed that we booked 2 rooms, one for us and one for our children and the rooms were not close, not even on the same floor.

Family vacation

Posted Mar 19, 2015
3rd time at this resort. We had another great stay and this time brought whole family ranging from 17-70 yrs old. Everyone reported having a great time. Two complaints - first is that there is not free wifi. Second is the tipping issue. If you want to make it easier to tip wait staff, etc. then need to have better system in place to change out larger bills like 20's, 50's and 100's.

Great staff, but overcrowded hotel. Clean rooms.

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: - Staff is very good and they try their best to make your stay pleasant. Sometimes they are too busy, because of the crowd they are supposed to serve.
Cons: 1. More umbrellas/coverage on the beach. 2. Put No smoking signs next to the wading pool. 3. Do not let people save chairs
Location: Locations is beautiful, but again, you can not swim in the sea because of waves.
Our vacation was OK, but I would not return to this hotel for several reasons: - Not enough space for the crowd it tries to accommodate, the sister property next door is even more crowded. - Beach does not have enough umbrellas or other sun coverage. There is an area with the big roof right next to the stairs, but there is absolutely no privacy there, since you are right next to other people. - It is impossible to swim in the sea, because of waves. You need to book hotel further south if you want to swim in the sea. - Not enough chairs at the swimming pool. Just not enough space overall. People are saving chairs with towels early morning and then some of them show up at the swimming pool around 2 pm (because they spent morning at the beach). This should be discouraged by hotel policy. - Non-members are sometimes treated poorly. No access to the internet, even when the "members internet room" is empty. You will need to wait between 40 and 60 minutes to eat at the nice French restaurant. One evening we waited 1 hour 15 minutes and when we finally got in at least 30% of the tables was empty. I think it is their strategy of keeping people away from eating in French restaurant. I saw several groups appalled by the wait time and leaving (for a quicker and cheaper options I presume).

Wonderful stay!

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: Staff, cleanliness, location. Also food options.
Cons: More help in the towel area. Since tours are also booked there the line would be backed up to get a towel.
Location: Bus stop right outside the hotel. So the location was perfect for us.
We stayed there from March 4 to March 8. It was our first time in Cancun. I'm a clean freak so i try to pick places that seem clean. This hotel was absolutely wonderful. You are able to go to the hotel right next door and enjoy dinner, entertainment and the pool. It just adds more to the experience. We didn't have enough to enjoy everything at the hotel. Make sure to go next door for the entertainment. It was fun.

Nice hotel for the money!

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: GR Caribe pool is very nice and quiet for the older crowd. Royal Solaris facility was full of spring break college students. Enjoyable!
Cons: Hotel rooms have a musty smell. Hallway leading from lobby is extremely noisy in the evenings.
Excellent hotel for a vacation stay. Great food and staff was incredibly nice. The use of the paddle boats and kayaks were an added bonus to the facility. The only complaint is the hallways from the reception/bar area were extremely noisy in the evenings. I suggest installing signs saying "Quiet Area" as sleeping in the evening before 1:00 am was impossible. Well worth the money and a short bus trip from AquaWorld and endless options for excursions. I strongly suggest the Isle Mujeres day trip.
