Beautiful hotel and friendly staffPosted Sep 13, 2014
The GR Solaris was a beautiful hotel with an amazing staff. They were all so friendly and helpful to a couple of girls in their 20s who were staying in mexico for the first time. The all inclusive package was great from the flight to the hotel room, there was always someone around willing to help you out with whatever you wanted. I would definitely recommend it and visit again.

Nice hotel on the beach...Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: The staff and entertainment.
Cons: The food needs to be improved. In addition, the dining rules at the Marco Polo Restaurant.
Location: The location was great. You were near downtown Cancun and the young adults were able to go to the clubs in about 10 -15 minutes.
I enjoyed my stay at the GR Solaris. The staff and entertainment was great. The food was ok. When in Mexico, I want to have authentic Mexican food daily if possible or at least have it as an option. It would have been nice if the breakfast buffet had a variety to choose from or at least a different menu daily. I was a little disappointed that my hubby could not dine at the Marco Polo Restaurant unless he had a pair of pants and socks. I can understand the pants but socks with sandals (We did not bring any pants or shoes to our vacation. We had stay at the Riviera Maya two years earlier and we were able to dine at the fine restaurants in the hotel we stayed at as long as my hubby had a nice pair of shorts and sandals). The room was nice and clean. However, you knew there were smokers. The hallways had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke.

Nice place with great staffPosted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Staff was great!
Cons: New beds would be nice, also we had two kids with us and there were a few "drunks" that overdid it at the pool bar.
This was our second stay at GR Solaris over the past few years. The place is great and we were happy with everything they had to offer. Hotel staff is great, however the hotel it's self may use some updating. Overall happy with our stay.

Not what we expectedPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: The size of the hotel is nice, not too big not too small. Having the 24 hr. deli was helpful.
Cons: Reception should always be friendly and helpful. we only have a few days they should be memorable. The main pool needs to be cleaned regularly.
Location: the location is closer to the airport than the club strip. you can bus or cab it. Tours are mostly an hour or more away. concierge doesnt tell you tha
after reading up on GR I thought it would be a great place to spend my birthday with my husband. after a long line to check in the guys didnt smile greet us nothing, he tells us we're staying til friday and must check out before 11am. I tell him its saturday he says you have to check out and check back in. I asked didnt expedia tell you to make it consective and his response was expedia can request it we dont have to do it. so that took another 30 minutes on line, filling out paperwork again. also I asked about a ocean view room that expedia requested as a birthday gift and got the same response. The room was looking at the garbage. so we never use the balcony. the room is sort of small but decent. minibar and bathroom supplies are replenished on some days not all. there is plenty of food you can find something to eat at any time.the bar tenders aren't friendly unless tipped or you're in a bikini. the one by the swim up bar expects tips! and if not makes you wait extended periods he aslo had dirty stink cups he reuses. we received a wifi number on a little paper that NEVER worked anywhere on the premises, never got pool towel cards at check in, so we had to stand on a line again for that.the shows were good.entertainment staff was fun didnt follow schedule ended early.the beds were made of stone slabs. the people who harass you to buy a membership are just ridiculous that took another 3.5 hours out of our trip! and we were forced to go through 4 different men.

Never again!Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: beach and pool
Location: location good, easy to get picked up by bus right in front of hotel.
Beach is beautiful, pool area nice. Service stinks, there were a few employees that were helpful but overall I would never recommend this place to anyone. The food was disgusting. We had to eat out every night and we were not the only guests who were forced to leave the hotel to get some edible food. Drinks also terrible. 1 bar in hotel lobby and 1 pool bar, that's it. No disco. I have stayed in Cancun before and Riviera Maya and Punta Cana so I am familiar with all inclusive. This was a huge mistake. Front desk staff very unfriendly and that was my experience each time I had to wait there sometimes 15-20 minutes.

Pros: I did not like this Hotel at all. We never go back to this hotel again.
The Mattress is very stiff. I did not sleep well during stay. The food was very bad. It seemed they reuse some old food every day.

Impromptu family VacationPosted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Right on the beach, close to the airport and close to town.
Cons: Be able to order a bottle of wine or champagne for your room via room service or from the bar. Marco Polo restaurant allows dress shorts.
Location: Near the Water Tour headquarters and a short bus ride into Cancun to shop and go to unique restaurants.
Originally we had not planned a vacation for the summer, but decided spur of the moment to book a trip before school started again. This was out first experience booking with Expedia and the prices were excellent. The resort, GR Solaris, was what we expected. Small enough that our 7 and 10 year old children could roam freely, but not disappear. The buffets were really delicious with a variety of food for everyone. The staff and bartenders were Outstanding. Especially Roberto and Alejandra. The room was clean and we loved the upgrade to the deluxe Ocean Front Room on the 7th Floor. What an incredible view! The only cons were that you were unable to order a bottle of wine or champagne for your room via room service or from the bar. For a All Inclusive, it really is not All Inclusive. The other con was the one non-buffet restaurant, Marco Polo. We were unable to eat there because my husband did not bring long pants. He had classy resort clothes [silk shirt, Tommy Bahama dress shorts, closed toe shoes] but no long pants. Yet they did allow jeans, sweatpants, what looked like long pajama pants with sneakers and a t-shirt. To me - that was a disgrace. But overall - for an impromptu vacation and the price we paid, it was well worth the trip. Will definitely need to go back to Cancun soon.

Great hotel!!!Posted Sep 2, 2014
The staff was absolutely great. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. As soon as we came to the front desk to check in, we were greeted with a drink! Waiter Jair and Mayky I highly recommend, ask for them! Awesome entertainment and food. Everything was clean and the staff always stays on top of things, always cleaning and making sure its 0. One thing I disliked were the beds. After a couple of days my back started hurting because the bed was extremely hard. Other than that, everything was great. Definitely will come back again in the near future!
