“Not as good as it was...”
We were at the Golden Parnassus from 11/25/11-11/30/11. We went to the Golden Parnassus with some friends in January 2010 and there has been some changes since--some good and some bad. On the good side they have really changed the interior of their common area. They no longer have mini golf and they have updated the bar areas. They also updated the rooms a little. It definitely has a more modern feel. They have more entertainment staff now and a better spread of activities throughout the day. The service was great--especially by the pool (Rosemy). The beach of course is beautiful and the Tiki Bar stays open late which is nice. On the downside, the food has taken a turn for the worse. The buffet used to be really good and have variety between the days. However, now it has the same foods, with little variation, everyday. The quality of the steaks at the Old Barn and Shangri La went down a bit as well. I think the worst thing was that we went with a group of 8 and 3 people out of our group got really sick. So sick that they were stuck in their rooms for over a day which was a real bummer. I think we narrowed it down to a bad round of Electric Lemonades that they had, that the rest of us didn't, but we aren't sure. Overall, the Golden Parnassus is nice and we loved the interior updates to the place as a whole and the individual rooms. The beach is fantastic and the activities were great, but when on vacation we love good food and I feel like we didn't get that here.
“Excellent choice!”
The Golden Parnassus is one of the best hotels I've ever been to. It offers a wide variety of food, a beautiful private beach, clean rooms, and has an amazing staff. The price is also great, as you have access to everything the hotel has to offer for no extra charge. I would definitely return to this hotel.
“Perfect couples getaway”
My wife and I decided on this hotel because of its small size, location, and adults olnly. We got what we expected plus!!! The staff is wonderful to work with, most speak fairly good english. There is tons to do because the entertainment staff do an exellent job of keeping things interesting. We especially liked this hotel because we could party anytime we wanted, but we could also find plenty of spots to relax if we wanted. I just returned on 11/12/11 and am already planning on going back in april.
“FUN HAD BY ALL!”
2 couples joined my wife & I on our trip to Golden last week. We read a ton of reviews before deciding where to go. As mentioned in other reviews, they do not let you check-in to your room till 3pm. No big deal, we wanted to drink & head for the beach anyway. All restaurants were very good & we had a great stay. Drinks were plenty strong enough. There wasn't anything exciting about the room (a little dated) but it was clean. We upgraded to ocean view (def. worth the $ to upgrade). If you can't afford a 5-star resort, but still want treated like kings, this is your place. We can't wait to go back. This was my wife & I's 3rd trip to Cancun and 1st time at this hotel. For the $, all of us had a blast...and it's great w/o kids. Entertainment & activities are available all day and into the night if you wish to participate. 1 in our party was pregnant & the staff made sure to seperate her drinks from those w/ alcohol. Also, we were never approached about time shares. This is a big problem at some hotels. Just can't say enough good things & i'm one that reads a ton of reviews before booking.
“9 days in Paradise”
My husband & I spent 9 days in Paradise.....When we arrived Leo gave us all the info we needed & was there every day to help with any questions & to just check on how our stay was . There were daily & nightly activities. But if you wanted to lay around & just relax that was good too. Our room was cleaned perfectly every day thanks to Sul. Every day we were greeted by Pasquale, Oscar & all huge smiles & help @ the buffet. @ the pool Mariana & Marina made sure we never wanted for anything. Angel entertained us daily & made sure we all had a great time. Freddie & Carlos made our nights @ the tike bar so great. I left my laptop along with jewelry & sometimes even money right out on the desk & felt very secure that my belongings would be safe. I want to thank everyone @ Golden Parnassus 2011 - Cancun, Mexico for making our vacation so memorable. We are already planning our trip back...
“Golden Time”
From arrival till departure we had a wonderful time at this hotel! We were welcomed with a nice cold drink and taken directly to our rooms after a quick comfortable check in. The rooms are a bit dated but overall large and comfortable. The bathrooms are very spacious and the shower was huge! We always had fresh towels and supplies daily. The rest of the hotel is very nice and the perfect size. Everything is within walking distance including the beach! The beach is amazing...soft sand, warm clear water and seashells galore! We sat on the beach nearly everyday and ventured into the ocean often to cool off! The food was good and always made to order, the buffet had minimal selections available. Overall we had a fantastic time at the Golden and would return and recommend to anyone! P.S. The hotel is located between the Ritz-Carlton and Secrets!! We felt surround by the rich and famous in a PRIME location on the Cancun strip for a great price!
“don't eat the buffet”
this place rocks.... just don't eat buffet food. a bunch of us did and got the sort end of cortez's greed. other than that it's a blast. the staff rocks. the food was great. the drinks are plenty. nuff said.
“Great Value!”
Overall, for the price we paid for a club-level, ocean-view, in-room-jacuzzi suite, the value exceeded our expectations for this all-inclusive hotel! After an hour wait to check in, we proceeded to our room; it was clean and well presented. After check-in, we met with Guest Services, but felt pressured to visit the family-oriented sister hotel, The Great Parnassus. They were willing to give us some freebies for a 90-minute tour of the other hotel. Uninterested in listening to a sales pitch on our vacation, we skipped the tour and ignored the follow-up morning reminder calls we got on two of the days. Housekeeping did a great job, but the towel service was inconsistent. Some days we would get a bath mat for the slippery tile floors and others we had to use a regular towel. The staff at the main dining room (breakfast and lunch) were very friendly and got you anything you needed. The dining options for dinner were good; the Steakhouse restaurant was the best, in our opinion. These options are included in the all-inclusive price. The pool was clean and the beach had tiki huts to get some shade - a nice extra! For the price we paid, this hotel was definitely worth it!
“I'm looking forward to going back!!!”
It was an excellent experience. The quality, condition and confort of the hotel was incredible. I recomend to everybody this hotel
