4th Trip....next one is 51 weeks away......Posted Mar 9, 2014
Pros: The friendliest guests and staff I have ever been around in my travels.
Location: The KulKulcan plaza is a 10 to 15 minute walk, a mall with the expensive to the very inexpensive.
Our fourth trip in as many years...... Great experience, staff, other guests, and the fun is unbelievable..... Look at the Golden on Facebook.....you will see why people are always so excited to return. The comments are real, not from a paid blogger (negative or positive). Will start looking for our next March vacation in either July or August.

Small, adult-only resortPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Staff are very pleasant! It's smaller, which is nice as far as being able to get into the restaurants and timely service.
Cons: Don't allow for overbooking.
Location: Beach is beautiful and excursion sales on-site. About one hour from most of the excursions (Tulum, Xcaret, Playa del Carmen).
This is like a home away from home. It is a smaller resort, so you really get to know the staff and other vacationers. This was our second year here and will likely return! There was a mix-up with our room type, but they did try and resolve, and offered an upgrade at their other resort. I did hear a lot this visit, that the hotel was over-booked, and some had to stay at the sister-resort.

Awesome adult only, great beach!Posted Mar 1, 2014
Pros: Small town feel, no kids , good food and drinks. Personal service
Cons: Better alcohol.
Location: Everything u need is right there
This hotel was great, very relaxing. Smaller resort, but exactly what we were looking for. Didn't want the hustle and bustle of the big resorts. Food was good , but not great. Not too many top shelf drink options but all the staff were great and accommodating , we will be back again !!

The staff is AMAZING!!!!!Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: The Staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The room was very nice as well
Cons: The booking procedure was terrible.... and it did seem as thought the resort was one restaurant shy, mostly because one was shut down every night
Location: Didn't do anything else, the hotel was great! We did go to the other resort for some meals, and the food was great there as well!
The stay started a little bumpy, I had to spend the first night at the family resort. When I was brought back I was upgraded to VIP and had a room upgrade. They also added a 1/2 hour massage witch was nice. The staff were all unbelievable! From Jose at the TIkki bar, to Fredie in the 60's bar, Gabby and Marina around the pool... they all made the stay Fantastic!!!

GREAT HOTELPosted Feb 19, 2014
Cons: SOME WEAR AND TEAR
Location: GREAT LOCATION WALKING DISTANCE TO AQUA WORLD, CLUBS, SHOPS, RESTAURANTS AND MARKETS AND AN EASY BUS RIDE TO DOWN TOWN.
THE HOTEL IS IN A GOOD LOCATION CLOSE TO AQUA WORLD AS WELL AS THE CLUBS BOTH WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. THE BUS STOP IS A COUPLE OF MINS WALK AND THE STAFF ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WILLING TO HELP YOU EXPLORE. THE STAFF ARE EXTREMELY FRIENDLY, POLITE AND HELPFUL. THEY SEEMED TO FIND NO REQUEST TO MUCH AND SIMPLY WANTED ALL TO HAVE A GREAT STAY. THE HOTEL ITS SELF SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF WEAR BUT ONLY MINOR AND THE STAFF SEEM TO BE VERY FOCUSED ON DOING UP ANY AREAS WITH WEAR. THE FOOD IS PLENTY AND CONTINUOUS YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK NEAR ENOUGH AROUND THE CLOCK. THERE ARE FOUR ALA CARTE RESTAURANTS AND A BUFFET BREAKFAST AND LUNCH RESTAURANTS AS WELL AS A PAN CAKE BAR AND SNACK BAR AND NOT TO MENTION THERE IS ROOM SERVICE ALL DAY AND NIGHT. THERE ARE ALSO MULTIPLE BARS ALL WITH WAITRESS SERVICE BOTH INSIDE AND OUT. THE ENTERTAINMENT IS PLEASANT ENOUGH AND THE ENTERTAINMENT STAFF ARE ALWAYS WILLING TO LAUGH AND JOIN IN. THE HOTEL IS RIGHT ON THE BEACH AS MOST ARE IN THE AREA AND IS A GOOD ADULT ONLY HOTEL AND IT SEEMED LIKE THERE WERE VERY FEW FAMILY HOTELS NEAR TO THE HOTEL AS WE DID NOT SEE AND CHILDREN DURING THE ENTIRE HOLIDAY. THE HOTELS SISTER HOTEL IS A LITTLE WAY OFF IT COULD BE WALKED BUT THE HOTEL PUTS ON A SHUTTLE SERVICE WHICH YOU CAN USE FREE AND RUNS ABOUT EVERY HOUR AND YOU CAN USE ALL THE SERVICES AT EITHER HOTEL (THE SISTER BEING THE MORE MODERN FAMILY HOTEL). THE SPA FACILITY IS VERY FRIENDLY AND REASONABLY PRICED. THE CONCIERGE HELPED US GET RESERVATIONS

amazing staff, very good food, happy with stayPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: the hotel staff (front desk, bartenders, waiters, bellboys, etc) were amazing and extremely friendly; food was surprisingly good; lots of activities
Cons: the wi-fi is not free ($15 USD for 24-hour access); the rooms could use some updating, boring/lacking decor
Location: Location is great, on the beach, 20 min drive to airport, 10-15 min walk to malls (safe), set back off main blvd so not much car noise
stayed at GP 2/13-2/17 with my cousin (we are 26- and 27-year old females). arrived at hotel around 12, check-in was not until 3. we were seated in lobby area and bartender brought us yummy drinks to welcome us. lady front desk came right over to give us our bracelets so that we could explore/eat/swim while we waited for our room to be ready. we were not asked to move hotels or offered a tour like other reviews said. we had a lagoon-side room, which was nice but very basic- 2 double beds, not much decor, TV, balcony. nice bathroom but terrible lighting. no real complaints though. pool/beach areas were very clean with fun activities throughout the day. even though its small, the resort seemed much livelier than others after taking a walk down the beach. had to claim chairs at pool/beach early before they were taken. bartenders at all bars were extremely friendly and fun, as were the waiters at each restaurant. staff made our stay SO enjoyable, they were just so hardworking, genuine and appreciative (we always tipped, they deserved it). food was very good at all restaurants in the resort, as were the drinks. old barn is steak/mexican; sumo is japanese; pier 12 is seafood/pasta; shangri-la is formal; breeze is snack bar. comedy show one of the nights was corny but cute/funny. pool party another night, karaoke another. not having kids running around was amazing. guests on the older side and lots of couples but really enjoyed the stay here otherwise. very relaxing.

The STAFF is what makes this resort what it is!Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Loved the shows, the food was great at the "Old Barn", "Shangri-La", and the buffet for breakfast and lunch was good too!
Cons: Better check in, when we got there they took us into the Sixties Bar, which wasn't even open at the time with no AC.
We had a GREAT time at this resort! The staff is very friendly, really enjoyed hanging out at the pool. I think this hotel has a tendency to overbook and then try to send people to their other resort- " The Great Parnassus". We didn't get switched, but I know of other people who did. The resort itself is older, but you get what you pay for. We didn't spend that much time in our room anyways... The only issue that we had was we booked a King bed and ended up with two double beds. Denise, Carlos, Alex, Israel, and Ulysses do a great job on the entertainment. THEY made our trip!!!
