“great hotel nice people”

I really enjoyed this hotel. The waiter in the restraunt and the lady cook was really nice. I enjoyed talking with them at night when I had my coffee. Also the people at the desk spoke good english. I had read another review talking bad about the maids. But I thought they were awsome. They do a excelent job. I would recomend you give them a little tip. Im sure there the lowest paid people at the hotlel. And the least apreciated. One draw back is its about 30 minutes from the hotel zone. But that is ok. The downtown Cancun is really fun. There are better bars there then in hotel zone. I really loved this place. I will stay there again in March when I go back to cancun

“Comfortable Cancun”

Nice and comfortable place. People are very nice.Be aware that you are in downtown area and still have to drive to the beach of preference otherwise you can relax in their swimming pool.

“EXCELLENT DEAL OFF THE TOURIST PATH!”

While the establishment was a bit off the well worn travel/tourist path, it was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. I would stay there again.

“For real Cancun, a real good choice.”

Hacienda de Castilla is just the kind of hotel that I like. It's simple, clean, inexpensive, near public transportation and has a very helpful staff at the front desk. The air-conditioning works great and the beds are comfortable with nice, modest furnishings in the rooms. Be sure to write down the address and keep it on hand as the taxis and shuttles from the airport are more accustomed to dropping tourists off at the Hotel Row and Hacienda de Castilla is off that particular grid. But it's within walking distance to delicious and inexpensive restaurants, shopping, cinema, and the ADO - the main bus service which can take you to the beaches along the strip or all the way down to Tulum; smaller "collectivo" shuttles are also available at ADO's parking lot. I'd stay here again and am very happy to have chosen Hacienda de Castilla for my stay. If you want to actually see Cancun, rather than see a resort every day, this is a great option.

“Good Hotel”

Overall the hotel is excellent. I location allows you access to major bus routes and the hotel district. It is also located next to a major shopping mall that has a food store. You can buy water and healthy food there.

“Another pleasant trip.”

The hotel is located on a side street two blocks from Lopes Portilla, and about 3 blocks from Bonaparte. The walk from either street may be a little uncomfortable for some, but I had absolutely no problems as well as any other of my 17 trips to Cancun. I walk everywhere I please. Additionally, there is a taxi stand with a number of taxis always at the entrance to the hotel for those that desire transportation. As for the hotel, I found it to be comfortable and a bargan for the price. Edith the manager, makes a sincere attempt to know each guest and attend to any need.

“good location and good service”

i got this hotel for a low rate. after i checked in hurricane rina threatened to hit cancun. a thick piece of wood got nailed in front of my window. the hurricane came as a tropical storm still causing a lot of damage. power and water was down for one day. the hotel provided buckets. the manager called his special contacts at the mexican power monopoly. like a miracle they arrived on a friday night and fixed the line. this is mexico! later the manager invited me for a beer. he was also helpful when i tried to open a bank account. a few days later we had another water outage. rooms in this hotel are nice and spacious. it feels like a four star hotel. water pressure is good and the water gets really hot. there is even a small swimming pool at the restaurant. rooms are airconditioned with very loud devices which cannot be controlled, you can only switch it on and off. cable tv has a few english channels. when it rains the windows will leak water inside your room. room cleaning service is intrusive, they open your door without your permission. i also found my belongings being touched by the cleaning person. i always put my toothbrush into a cup for hygiene reasons. the maid took it out and put my toothbrush at the border of the sink. they also washed my contact lens container with water which conaminates the container causing eye infections. i ended up telling the front desk that they are not allowed to enter my room any more. the good news is that nothing got stolen..

“A good place to stay if you are frugal”

My wife and I stayed in Hacienda de Castilla hotel for 9 days when we first came to Cancun, while looking for an apartment to rent. The place recently reopened under a new management, so it was renovated and they try to create a good reputation. It was well worth the money we paid for it (BTW, every third night was for free). It was clean and we had a pretty comfortable bed and air-conditioner in our room. Their manager could speak English and was really friendly and helpful on many occasions, the staff was good too. They have a little restaurant there too. Breakfast was not included, but was available, we also quite often had lunch or dinner there - and we liked what we were served. The only thing we did not like was that in the restaurant they played music from 10 am up until 11 pm, it was loud and all the same every day. They had wi-fi internet that worked well. The hotel is located far from the hotel zone, and about 15 minute taxi ride (20 pesos) from Mercado 28 or any big supermarket, which was quite far - but we enjoyed walking around by foot, we felt safe even in the evenings. It's location is also good if you just stay in Cancun overnight, as the main road to airport is just one block away. Print out a map and right down the address of the place - as taxi drivers don't know that district so well.

“Good solid hotel for 'non-touristy' travellers”

Nice, comfortable, "get the job done" hotel. Nothing fancy, just a good solid place to stay and the price was right!
