Off the beaten path

Pros: Very nice rate at a clean hotel.
Cons: The only downside was the location.
Location: Cancun is a big city. There is lots to do.
Hacienda de Castilla is located in Cancun Centro. It is not easy to find, however, it was very clean and the staff was great.

Great Value

Posted Aug 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great place for the value. This hotel is located in El Centro, Cancun's city center, and a stretch from the tourist zone where most tourist stay. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, helpful and room was great for $30 US. IF youre on a budget save the money and stay here, the bus is only a few blocks away and takes you to the hotel zone for about $9 pesos (about 75 Cents) in about 15 minutes. But be for warned this is in the real Mexico and not the tourist zone and you will stand out, there were a quite a few stares but everyone kept to themselves. Felt safe during the day, but would NOT recommend going out at night. I walked around the block once and saw trouble in every direction, just as I rounded the corner back to the hotel I ran into about 5 Federales with machine guns and ski masks where there are no street lights. Be safe and get the real cultural experience for alot less, you will be glad you did.

perfectly serviceable

This hotel was exactly what we expected based on cost and other reviews. It is not the most elegant or modern, but the room was clean, the air conditioning was cold and the staff was friendly and helpful. You will get lost driving yourself there. It's tucked away in a residential neighborhood of the city of Cancun, removed from the touristy hotel zone. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood to get a feel for the town, others may not find this as interesting. We did eat a small bit in the hotel restaurant and thought the Aztec soup was pretty tasty. All in all served our purposes for one night in Cancun.
