Pros: The location
Cons: Update the interior decoration.
Location: Great location, close to malls, restaurants.
We were pleasantly surprise with the hotel. The beach is beautiful, the sea view rooms gives you a great panoramic view of Cancun.

Excellent location & beach area , a good valuePosted Mar 12, 2014
Pros: location, beach area
Cons: The hotel is old and it needs touch ups and or some upgrades; Wi-Fi charges are ridiculous hi; walk to Starbucks close by for free wi fi
Have been vacationing in Cancun for over 20 years; have stayed at better/more elegant hotels, but the Hyatt Regency has an excellent location, especially that it does not offer the "all inclusive " meal / drink plan. Hotel is located in the heart of the resort, close to convenience stores, malls, clubs, restaurants, local buss stops etc. During our early March 2014 stay, it offered an excellent meal plan at their own restaurants making it easier to have lunch on site.... The best feature of the hotel is the spacious and wide beach area with plenty of shade and comfortable chaise lounges...from the beach, it is one of the best views in Cancun, you can see the entire Cancun stretch- Pool area is also very nice with plenty of shade spots, 3 pools etc..

Beautiful Place for a Relaxing TimePosted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: The decor, location, staff and guest services
Cons: Internet Service!!!! Better priced food.
Location: there was a convenience store, lots of bars and clubs, some outlet store was close and lots of restaurants
The hotel was gorgeous, a bit older as it was built in 1983, but overall just wonderful. The staff was incredible and very helpful answering all my questions and recommending places to eat and things to do. They were so kind and were nice enough to call taxis for my friend and I before we left to go out to eat or see the city. The beach was very clean and the servers outside were very attentive. Although it did seem they were understaffed at the beach for serving food and drinks. The food at the hotel was so expensive so I decided not to eat there just ordered drinks which were priced moderately, not too expensive but not cheap. The hotel is more for families and older couples, there were really no young people there so it was a bit boring at night. Seemed like a ghost hotel since it was so quiet at night. My biggest issue with the hotel is the DARN INTERNET. It was awful beyond terrible, It was slow cut out often and YOU HAD TO PAY FOR THAT GARBAGE. I complained to the staff a few times about it and they were nice enough to take off the charge, but honestly why would they even make you pay for it in the first place. The location of the hotel is good right next to all the bars and clubs and there is a convenience store right in front.

OkayPosted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: The beach! Very nice and several cabana's to sit under. Loved the beach.
The staff was very nice and helpful. I wasn't extremely impressed with the hotel. It was okay but nothing special. I thought a 4 star would be much nicer.

Modern, clean hotel on the beachPosted Mar 10, 2014
Front desk staff were very accompanying and had no issues with them. I would like to see better food and drink prices and better water pressure in the shower but we loved our stay there. We ate at the hotel but also wanted to eat at local eateries. Karla and Sergio were awesome and gave us inexpensive local restaurant recommendations.

Nice hotel on windward side. Beautiful beachPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: Price was good until additional people (children) added. Then price doubled.
Cons: Internet should be free for price of room.
Location: Great view in all directions
Absolutely fine. Room adequate. Central atrium amazing

Polite friendly staff.Posted Mar 8, 2014
No problems encountered. Beach is very nice with a jetty creating a calm swimming area. We dined in town having a rental car. We saved money this way and had great meals.

Nice hotel for a family tripPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: comfort and location
I am very picky about hotels and found this to be comfortable and clean. I travelled with my husband and my two teenagers and it was perfect. The location was good for the beach but activities were not located right there. I stayed in an exclusive hotel on the same strip on another trip and all activities are right there on the side of the beach. But that did not take away from our enjoyment. Also, the only problem with the beach is that the sand was shelly in a large area, Otherwise, the shops are walking distance. Food was OK. Great for kids--the pool was loud and children were jumping all over the place. Take advantage of the food deal -- the hotel will double what you give them if you spend the money on food at the hotel. But be careful, that does not include tips. Overall the experience was pretty good.

DisappointingPosted Mar 7, 2014
Pros: Location is good as you are near the action. Oliver at front desk was doing his best but he could not make the difference.
Cons: Service, Service...This was by far the worse service we ever encountered in Mexico (Cancun 4 x, Riviera Maya once, Acapulco once and Puerto Vallarta
Location: Carlos and Charlies etc.
We had reservation for two rooms (communicating) in order to have our children in one room next to ours but once we reached the hotel they could not provide us with our request. They offered us a suite for the first night (which is cheaper than the price of two rooms!) and we had to ask for cots since we did not want the kids on a sofa bed.. They also offered us access to a 14th floor (5 to 7h VIP) room that same night where we could get a free drink a sandwiches. This was rather disappointing since we were only staying on site for 5 nights. The next day was interrupted since I had to meet with someone in the room at noon in order to transfer to our communicating rooms. Service at the restaurants and around the pool was often extremely slow (40 minutes to be served our meals!). And we are good tipers! Furthermore, on the beach, my wife and I would bring the lounge chairs (two) near the red flag so we could see the children playing in the water. Employees were quick (these time) at coming to ask us to bring back the chairs near the hotel property. We had to explain that for our children safety we needed to be a little closer to the water (half way on the beach between the property and the water). They were intimidating, asking us for our room number and NEVER coming back to see if we wanted to order a cola or a drink ! BTW we always brought back our chairs where we got them.

Great location with nice beach accessPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Location, architecture, beach.
Cons: Stayed on a Saturday night and the DJ music from the beach was loud and went very late at night.
Location: Great location to calm area of beach as well as downtown hotel zone.
The Hyatt is a cool hotel with a great architecture interior. The views of the Cancun beach from your room are amazing. It is in a great location with easy access to the beach and the downtown hotel zone area. The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable.
